    Overview

    Basic Information about New Zealand

New Zealand's visa system is administered by Immigration New Zealand (INZ), part of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment. Bangladeshi passport holders generally need the appropriate visa before travelling for a visit, study or work. Residents of Bangladesh using another passport should check the requirement based on their nationality, travel document and purpose.
Most visitor, student and work visa applications are submitted online through Immigration New Zealand's Immigration Online systems, including enhanced Immigration Online, generally using a RealMe login. Applicants upload supporting evidence, pay the applicable charges and follow INZ instructions for any health, character or passport requirements. VFS provides passport-handling services only where required, while INZ makes the visa decision and issues approved visas as eVisas.
A Visitor Visa can cover tourism, family or friend visits and short study, while separate visas apply for business visits, medical treatment, partnership, guardians, transit and other purposes. Study beyond the visitor allowance generally requires an appropriate student visa, and employment normally requires a work visa such as the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV). Eligible visa-waiver or transit-waiver travellers may need an NZeTA instead of a Visitor or Transit Visa, depending on their passport and travel circumstances.
