New Zealand Fee Paying Student Visa from Bangladesh

Fee Paying Student Visa guidance for full-time study in New Zealand, with clear INZ requirements on admission, tuition, funds, insurance, study conditions and eVisa.

    Last Updated: 4 October 2026

The New Zealand Fee Paying Student Visa is the main student visa for international learners who will pay the full cost of an approved course themselves or with support from family, an education loan or a partial scholarship. For Bangladeshi students, it can cover full-time primary, secondary, tertiary and other approved study in New Zealand. An offer of place from an approved education provider is required, and the visa may be granted for up to 4 years, normally in line with the period of study that has been paid for and the applicant's passport validity.

Applicants must have medical and travel insurance acceptable to their education provider. For South Asia applications from Bangladesh, individual sponsors or financial guarantors are limited to INZ-defined immediate family. Applications are submitted online through enhanced Immigration Online system using a RealMe login, and approved visas are issued as eVisas.

    Document Checklist

    1. Passport / Travel Document: Valid passport or other travel document. For an online application, upload the required passport copy; the passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the date you plan to leave New Zealand. INZ will advise if the original passport is required later.
    2. Previous Passport(s) & Travel History: Copies of previous passport(s), visas and relevant entry/exit records to support the applicant's travel history and ensure consistency with the information declared in the application.
    3. Enhanced Immigration Online Application, Photo & Translations: Complete the Fee Paying Student Visa application online throughINZ’s enhanced Immigration Online system using a RealMe login, upload an acceptable visa photo and pay the applicable fee. Provide certified English translations of all non-English evidence to support assessment.
    4. Cover Letter: Applicant's signed letter explaining the academic background, chosen course and education provider, reasons for studying in New Zealand, career relevance, funding arrangements and intended plans after study. The explanation should be genuine, specific and consistent with the offer of place, academic history and financial evidence.
    5. Offer of Place / Enrolment Confirmation: Evidence of an offer of place from an approved New Zealand education provider, or confirmation of enrolment for a returning student. The offer should identify the course, duration, study mode and relevant scheduled holidays. Applicants outside New Zealand may apply with a conditional offer, but an unconditional offer is required before the visa can be finally granted.
    6. Tuition Fee Evidence: Evidence that tuition fees for 1 course or 1 year of study, whichever is shorter, have been paid, can be paid, or are not required. This may include an education-provider receipt or letter, scholarship evidence or eligible loan evidence. Offshore applicants may choose to pay after approval in principle, but this can extend processing and payment evidence is required before visa issue.
    7. Academic, English & Previous Study Evidence: Relevant academic certificates, transcripts and other evidence showing the applicant can undertake the proposed course. English-language test results may be provided where relevant to admission or to support genuine study intentions. Returning New Zealand students should also provide evidence of academic progress and attendance where applicable.
    8. Sponsor Evidence: Where a sponsor is used, provide the sponsor information required by enhanced Immigration Online, including the sponsor’s sharing ID. If a financial guarantor is used, provide the completed Financial Undertaking for a Student form (INZ 1014) and the required supporting financial evidence.
    9. Business/Company Bank Statements & Solvency Certificate: Original bank statements for the last 6 months for business/company accounts, issued by the bank and showing the bank name and contact details. Statements must be stamped and signed by an authorized bank officer (e-statements not accepted), and accompanied by a bank solvency/financial standing certificate where required.
    10. Company TIN & ITR: Copy of the employer/company TIN certificate and copies of the company Income Tax Return (ITR) for the last 3 tax years, along with the acknowledgement receipts.
    11. Personal Bank Statements & Solvency Certificate: Original bank statements (personal and/or salary account) for the last 6 months, issued by the bank and showing the bank name and contact details. Statements must be stamped and signed by an authorized bank officer (e-statements not accepted), and accompanied by a bank solvency/financial standing certificate where required.
    12. Personal TIN & ITR: Copy of the personal TIN certificate and Income Tax Return (ITR) for the last 3 tax years, along with the acknowledgement receipts.
    13. Proof of Legal Residence in Bangladesh (where applicable): Applicants who are not Bangladeshi nationals should provide evidence of lawful residence in Bangladesh.
    14. Civil Status Documents: Marriage certificate, divorce certificate, death certificate, birth certificate, or family-related documents where applicable, especially when travelling with spouse or children.
    15. Health Evidence: Provide a chest X-ray, medical examination and police certificates where INZ requires them. Bangladeshi applicants planning to stay in New Zealand for more than 6 months generally require a chest X-ray under INZ's tuberculosis screening rules.
    16. Police Clearance Certificate & Insurance: Police certificates are generally required for applicants aged 17 or older whose total New Zealand stay will be 24 months or longer. The student must also hold medical and travel insurance acceptable to the education provider from the start of the course until visa expiry, subject to applicable INZ exemptions.
    17. Work / Practical Study Evidence (where applicable): Provide course and holiday information, required permissions for younger students, or evidence that practical work experience is a compulsory part of the course if seeking relevant work conditions. Work rights are determined by the visa conditions.
    18. Minor Applicant Documents: For applicants under 18, provide birth certificate, parental consent, parent/legal guardian identification, proof of economic means of parents/legal guardian, and custody or guardianship documents where applicable. Students under 10 who are not living in an NZQA-approved school hostel must be accompanied by and live with a parent or legal guardian.
