    Overview

    Basic Information about Slovenia

Slovenia is part of the Schengen area. If Slovenia is the main destination, Bangladeshi applicants travelling for short stays such as tourism, business, family visits, official purposes, or airport transit generally apply for a Slovenia Schengen visa.
In Bangladesh, Sweden represents Slovenia for short-stay Schengen visa matters. Applications are submitted through the Sweden Visa Application Centre in Dhaka. Applicants normally need a pre-booked appointment and must attend in person for document submission and biometric enrolment.
For stays exceeding 90 days, the correct route normally involves Sloveniaโ€™s residence framework. Study cases generally require a temporary residence permit, while employment and work cases usually follow the single-permit process, which combines residence and work authorization. Family reunification and other long-term purposes also require the appropriate temporary residence permit. The first permit must generally be obtained before entry.
Long-term matters fall under the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in New Delhi and the competent Administrative Unit in Slovenia. Applications may be lodged through the official overseas route or, where permitted, by an employer or authorized person directly in Slovenia. A national long-stay visa (Type D) is available only for specific legally eligible cases and is not an automatic stage for every study, work, or family application. After arrival, residence must be registered within the applicable deadline.
