    Overview

    Basic Information about Canada

Canadaโ€™s temporary-residence system is administered by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Bangladeshi passport holders generally need a Canadian Visitor Visa, formally a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), for tourism, family visits or permitted business activities. Other residents of Bangladesh should check the requirement based on their nationality, passport and purpose of travel.
Most Visitor Visa, Super Visa and Study Permit applications are submitted online through an appropriate IRCC account. Where biometrics are required, applicants attend a Canada Visa Application Centre operated by VFS Global in Bangladesh after receiving IRCC instructions. VFS handles biometrics and authorized passport/document services, while IRCC makes the application decision.
Visitor Visas cover genuine temporary visits, while eligible parents and grandparents may qualify for a Super Visa and qualifying air transit may require a Transit Visa. Studies longer than 6 months generally require a Study Permit supported by admission to a designated learning institution, sufficient funds and any applicable provincial or territorial attestation requirement. A Study Permit is not itself a travel visa; where a TRV is required, IRCC normally issues it with an approved Study Permit application.
