    Canada Super Visa - Parents & Grandparents from Bangladesh

    Long-stay Super Visa for eligible parents and grandparents visiting family in Canada, with stays of up to 5 years at a time.

    The Canada Super Visa is a multiple-entry temporary resident visa for eligible parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens, permanent residents or registered Indian who want to spend extended time with family in Canada. For Bangladeshi passport holders, it provides the required visa for travel and can allow stays of up to 5 years at a time, with multiple entries for up to 10 years, subject to passport, biometric and border-entry conditions.

    Unlike a regular Visitor Visa, the Super Visa has additional eligibility requirements. The host child or grandchild must be at least 18, live in Canada, hold qualifying Canadian status and meet the minimum necessary income requirement. The applicant must apply from outside Canada, complete an immigration medical exam, hold qualifying private health insurance for at least 1 year from entry, and still satisfy IRCC that the visit is temporary and admissible. Dependants cannot be included in the same Super Visa application. 

    Document Checklist

    1. Passport: Valid passport for the intended trip to Canada. Provide a clear colour copy of the biographical page and pages containing stamps, visas or other markings; IRCC currently advises the travel document should generally be valid for at least 6 months from the planned travel date.
    2. Previous Passport(s) & Travel History: Copies of previous passport(s), visas and relevant entry/exit records to support the applicant's travel history and ensure consistency with the information declared in the application. IRCC may consider travel evidence from the previous 10 years.
    3. IRCC Online Application & Personalized Checklist: Complete the Super Visa application through the IRCC Portal, or the IRCC Portal - New version where eligible. Select the Super Visa purpose, upload all forms and documents shown in the personalized checklist, pay the applicable fees and submit the application from outside Canada.
    4. Cover Letter: Applicant's signed letter explaining the extended family-visit purpose, intended travel dates and expected stay, host details, accommodation, trip funding, family circumstances and reasons for returning after the authorized visit. The information should remain consistent with the online application and supporting evidence.
    5. Invitation Letter, Relationship & Host Status: Signed invitation from the child or grandchild in Canada, including the host's financial-support commitment and family-size details. Add proof that the applicant is the host's parent or grandparent and evidence that the host is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or registered Indian, is at least 18 and lives in Canada.
    6. Host Income & Financial Support Evidence: Provide proof that the host meets IRCC's minimum necessary income for the applicable family size. Under the rules effective 31 March 2026, the host or eligible co-signer may qualify using a CRA Notice of Assessment for either of the 2 previous tax years, or may use the prior year's income at 75% or more of the required amount with qualifying continuing income from the applicant covering the balance.
    7. Private Health Insurance & Immigration Medical Exam: Provide qualifying private health insurance valid for at least 1 year from entry, with at least CAD 100,000 emergency coverage for health care, hospitalization and repatriation. It must be from an accepted Canadian insurer or eligible foreign insurer, be paid in full or by instalments with a deposit (quotes are not accepted), and be valid for each entry. Also provide proof of an immigration medical exam completed with an IRCC-approved panel physician.
    8. Flight Reservation: Provisional flight itinerary/reservation showing travel dates, route and flight details, consistent with the planned schedule. IRCC accepts flight details as itinerary evidence; purchasing a non-refundable ticket before a decision is not necessary.
    9. Accommodation Plan: Provide the intended Canadian residential address and a clear plan for the stay with the host, including how accommodation and day-to-day costs will be covered.
    10. Employer / Study / Business Supporting Letter: Where applicable, provide a letter confirming the applicant's role or enrolment, salary or relevant status, length of employment or study, approved leave and expected continuation after the visit. For employed applicants, provide a recent employer letter on official letterhead with employment, salary and employer contact details, along with recent 6 months’ payslips to support ongoing employment and declared income.
    11. Business/Company Financial Evidence (where applicable): Self-employed applicants may provide recent business bank statements, ownership evidence and other records that help demonstrate active business operations, income and the source of funds used for the trip.
    12. Business Registration & Tax Records (where applicable): Relevant Trade License, Incorporation Certificate, company registration documents, TIN and Income Tax Return records may be included where they support the applicant's business status, income and ties to Bangladesh.
    13. Personal Bank Statements & Financial Evidence: Provide at least 6 months of personal and/or salary account details showing the account holder, balances, transaction history and bank contact information. Add other credible financial evidence where relevant to explain income, savings and the source and availability of trip funds.
    14. Personal TIN & ITR: Personal TIN certificate and recent Income Tax Return records may be included to support declared income, financial history and economic ties where relevant to the applicant's circumstances.
    15. Proof of Legal Residence in Bangladesh (where applicable): Applicants who are not Bangladeshi nationals should provide evidence of lawful residence in Bangladesh.
    16. Civil Status Documents: Marriage certificate, divorce certificate, death certificate, birth certificate or family-related documents where applicable, especially when they help explain family composition, accompanying travellers or ties outside Canada. 

    Process Roadmap

    Step 1

    Confirm Super Visa Eligibility

    Confirm that the applicant is an eligible parent or grandparent applying from outside Canada and that the host child or grandchild is at least 18, lives in Canada, has qualifying status and meets the income requirement.

    Step 2

    Prepare Host, Income & Relationship Evidence

    Gather the signed invitation, host-status and relationship evidence, family-size details, and current income documents under IRCC's Super Visa financial-support rules.

    Step 3

    Arrange Insurance & Complete the Medical Exam

    Obtain qualifying private health insurance for at least 1 year with minimum CAD 100,000 emergency coverage and complete the required immigration medical exam with an approved panel physician.

    Step 4

    Apply Online, Upload Evidence & Pay the Fees

    Apply through the IRCC Portal, select the Super Visa purpose, upload the personalized checklist and pay CAD 100 plus the biometrics fee where required.

    Step 5

    Receive the BIL & Give Biometrics

    If biometrics are required, wait for the IRCC Biometric Instruction Letter (BIL), book the free biometric appointment and attend a Canada VAC in Bangladesh with the required documents.

    Step 6

    IRCC Assesses the Super Visa Application

    IRCC reviews the application and may request additional evidence or verification.

    Step 7

    Submit the Passport after IRCC Request

    If IRCC issues a Passport Request Letter, book the required VAC appointment and submit the passport. Carry valid health insurance when travelling; CBSA makes the final entry decision and normally may authorize up to 5 years per entry for an eligible Super Visa holder.
