    Overview

    Basic Information about Luxembourg

Luxembourg is part of the Schengen area. If Luxembourg is the main destination, Bangladeshi applicants travelling for short stays such as tourism, business, family visits, official purposes, or airport transit generally apply for a Luxembourg Schengen visa.
In Bangladesh, Sweden represents Luxembourg for short-stay Schengen visa matters. Applications are submitted through the Sweden Visa Application Centre in Dhaka. Applicants generally need to book an appointment in advance and attend in person for document submission and biometric enrolment.
For stays exceeding 90 days, the correct route normally involves Luxembourg's long-stay and residence framework. Study, salaried work, EU Blue Card, and most family reunification cases generally begin with a temporary authorisation to stay from the General Department of Immigration. After approval, visa-required Bangladeshi applicants proceed to the national long-stay visa (Type D) stage through the Embassy of Luxembourg in New Delhi, using the Bangladesh filing instructions in force at that time.
Once a decision is made, short-stay applicants receive their passport through the Sweden Visa Application Centre in Dhaka or by courier where selected. Long-stay applicants must follow the Embassy's passport-return instructions and, after arrival in Luxembourg, complete the applicable declaration of arrival, medical examination, and residence permit formalities within the prescribed deadlines.
