Process Roadmap
Step 1
Check EU/EEA Free-Movement Eligibility
Confirm that the applicant falls within a qualifying family relationship and that the journey is genuinely connected to accompanying or joining the EU/EEA citizen in Luxembourg. For an eligible visit not exceeding 90 days, a Schengen short-stay visa (Type C) is generally used.
Step 2
Complete the Application Form
Complete the Schengen visa application form with the EU/EEA family-member basis stated clearly. Names, passport information, relationship details, travel dates, and the Luxembourg movement or residence plan should remain consistent across the application.
Step 3
Arrange Relationship & EU/EEA Evidence
Arrange the EU/EEA citizen’s passport or identity document, civil-status evidence, dependency records where relevant, and documents showing that the applicant will travel together with or join the citizen in Luxembourg.
Step 4
Prepare Applicant Documents
Prepare the applicant’s passport, photographs, cover letter, itinerary, accommodation or residence evidence, Bangladesh status documents, civil records, and minor documents where applicable. Provide translations or formal certification where required.
Step 5
Book Appointment at Visa Application Centre
Book the appointment under the correct EU/EEA family-member route at the Sweden Visa Application Centre in Dhaka, which receives Luxembourg short-stay files under Sweden’s representation arrangement. Retain the confirmation and arrange the documents in A4 format.
Step 6
Submit Application & Provide Biometrics
Attend the appointment in-person with the completed application and passport, provide biometric information where required, and complete any applicable VFS or optional-service payments. The visa-fee exemption applies only after the qualifying family-member conditions are established.
Step 7
Track Application & Verify Visa
Follow the application using the VFS reference number. Once the passport is returned, collect it or receive it by courier if selected, then check the holder’s details, validity period, number of entries, and authorized stay before travelling.
Common Rejection Pitfalls
The application does not establish the EU/EEA family-member route
How UnivEase helps
We examine the citizen’s nationality, Luxembourg residence or travel circumstances, the applicant’s relationship, and the free-movement or national-law context so the appropriate route is identified before filing.
Relationship or dependency evidence contains gaps
How UnivEase helps
We organize marriage, birth, partnership, household, financial-support, and other civil records so the family connection, names, dates, and dependency position are presented consistently.
The accompanying or joining arrangement is not credible
How UnivEase helps
We cross-check the EU/EEA citizen’s Luxembourg travel or residence documents, flight plans, accommodation, address evidence, and supporting statements so the purpose of movement is properly documented.
A residence or long-stay case is presented as a short visit
How UnivEase helps
We assess whether the case belongs under the facilitated short-stay visa route, Luxembourg’s residence-card process, another family-based residence route, or a different immigration procedure.
