Luxembourg Airport Transit Visa from Bangladesh

Airport transit visa for Bangladeshi travellers connecting through Luxembourg without entering Schengen.

    Last Updated: 30 August 2026

The Luxembourg Airport Transit Visa, officially an Airport Transit Visa (Type A), is for Bangladeshi travellers who need to remain in the international transit area of Luxembourg Airport while connecting to a destination outside the Schengen area.

It authorizes airport-side transit only and does not permit passage through Schengen border control. A different visa category may be required when the itinerary involves collecting checked baggage, leaving the secure transit area, changing airports, staying overnight landside, or otherwise entering Luxembourg or another Schengen country.

    Document Checklist

    1. Passport (Original): Original passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended return/departure date, with at least 2 blank pages.
    2. Previous Passport(s) & Visa Copies: Copies of previous passport(s), recent passport bio page, and previously issued visas/stamps to support travel history, where available.
    3. Photograph (ICAO Format): Provide 2-4 recent colour passport photographs with a plain white background, 60%-70% face coverage, no eyeglasses, no head/ear coverings unless worn for religious reasons, and no borders. Photos must be ICAO-compliant.
    4. Schengen Visa Application Form (Offline): Printed Schengen visa application form completed for each applicant; signed and dated. For minors, the form must be signed by parent/legal guardian. The purpose of journey should be selected as airport transit where applicable.
    5. Cover Letter: Applicant’s signed letter addressed to the Visa Officer/Visa Office explaining the airport transit purpose, full travel route, Luxembourg Airport connection, final destination, and key supporting documents.
    6. Flight Reservation / Transit Itinerary: Confirmed or provisional flight itinerary showing the complete travel route, Luxembourg transit airport, connection time, onward flight details, and final destination. The itinerary should show that the applicant will remain within airport transit where applicable.
    7. Final Destination Visa / Entry Permission: Copy of the valid visa, residence permit, entry clearance, or other permission required for the final destination country, where applicable.
    8. Proof of Onward Travel: Supporting evidence showing onward movement from Luxembourg to the final non-Schengen destination, such as onward ticket/reservation, booking reference, airline confirmation, or travel agency itinerary.
    9. Proof of Occupation: Documents confirming your current professional status and ties to your home country, such as employment certificates, leave approval, pay slips, salary statements, or business-related documents (e.g., Trade License, Incorporation Certificate, MOA, Form XII, IRC/ERC). These should be recent, consistent with your application, and clearly demonstrate your ongoing occupation and intent to return after your visit.
    10. Personal Bank Statements & Solvency Certificate: Original bank statements (personal and/or salary account) for the last 6 months, issued by the bank and showing the bank name and contact details. Statements must be stamped and signed by an authorized bank officer (e-statements not accepted), and accompanied by a bank solvency/financial standing certificate where required.
    11. Personal TIN & ITR: Copy of the personal TIN certificate and Income Tax Return (ITR) for the last 3 tax years, along with the acknowledgement receipts.
    12. Minor Applicant Documents: For minors, provide birth certificate, parental consent, parent/legal guardian identification, proof of economic means of parents/legal guardian, and custody or guardianship documents where applicable.

    Process Roadmap

    Step 1

    Confirm Airport Transit Need

Review the full itinerary and confirm that the traveller will remain within the international transit zone at Luxembourg Airport. Bangladeshi nationals normally require an Airport Transit Visa unless a specific official exemption applies.

    Step 2

    Complete the Application Form

Complete the Schengen visa application form carefully. The passport details, exact flight sequence, connection time, onward booking, final-destination permission, and supporting records should match throughout the file.

    Step 3

    Organize Transit Evidence

Compile the full flight itinerary, onward reservation, airline confirmation, baggage-transfer information, final-destination visa or residence permission, and any explanation needed to demonstrate airport-only transit through Luxembourg.

    Step 4

    Prepare Applicant Documents

Arrange the passport, photographs, signed cover letter, occupation and financial evidence, minor documents where relevant, and proof supporting any claimed exemption. Translate documents where required.

    Step 5

Book Appointment at Visa Application Centre

Book a submission appointment at the Sweden Visa Application Centre in Dhaka, which receives Luxembourg airport transit applications under Sweden’s representation arrangement. Keep the confirmation and organize the file in A4 format.

    Step 6

    Submit Application & Provide Biometrics

Attend the appointment in person to submit the application and passport, provide biometric information where required, and pay the applicable visa, VFS, and selected optional service charges.

    Step 7

    Track Application & Check Passport

Track the application using the VFS reference number. After the passport is returned, collect it from the centre or receive it by courier if selected, and verify the visa details carefully before departure.

    Common Rejection Pitfalls

Airport Transit Visa does not fit the actual itinerary

    How UnivEase helps

We review the flight route, baggage arrangements, terminal movements, border-control requirements, and onward journey to clarify whether a Type A Airport Transit Visa or another Schengen visa is appropriate.

Onward connection is not supported by clear evidence

    How UnivEase helps

We organize the complete flight sequence, booking references, airline confirmations, connection times, and destination details so the airport transit plan is easy to verify.

Final-destination permission is missing or unsuitable

    How UnivEase helps

We check the visa, residence permit, entry clearance, or other authorization required for the final country and confirm that its validity and details support the proposed journey.

Baggage, transfer, or overnight arrangements require Schengen entry

    How UnivEase helps

We examine whether baggage collection, an airport exit, a landside overnight stay, terminal access, or another transfer step requires immigration clearance and therefore a different visa route.
