New Zealand Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) from Bangladesh

AEWV guidance for genuine full-time employment with an accredited New Zealand employer, covering Job Checks, skills, English, work conditions, fees and eVisa processing.

    Last Updated: 3 October 2026

The Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) is New Zealand's main employer-linked temporary work visa for Bangladeshi nationals and eligible residents who have a genuine full-time job offer from an Immigration New Zealand (INZ)-accredited employer. Before the worker can apply, the employer must hold current AEWV accreditation and an approved Job Check for the role, then provide the job offer, employment agreement, job description and a unique online application link. The job must offer at least 30 hours of work each week.

INZ assesses whether the applicant meets the AEWV minimum skill requirement, the employer's role-specific requirements, the relevant ANZSCO or recognised NOL skill level, occupational registration and English requirements where applicable, together with health, character and genuine-intention criteria. AEWVs can be granted for up to 5 years depending on the job, skill level, pay and employment term; some skill level 4 or 5 roles have a 3-year maximum continuous stay. The visa is linked to the approved employer, job and location, so changes may require a Job Change, variation of conditions or a new visa. Partners and dependent children are not included in the AEWV application; separate family visas may be supported only where the AEWV holder's job and pay meet the applicable INZ rules. The worker applies online through INZ’s enhanced Immigration Online system using the unique application link sent by the accredited employer and a RealMe login. Approved visas are issued as eVisas.

    Document Checklist

    1. Passport / Travel Document: Valid passport or other travel document. For an online application, upload the required passport copy; the passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the date you plan to leave New Zealand. INZ will advise if the original passport is required later.
    2. Previous Passport(s) & Travel History: Copies of previous passport(s), visas and relevant entry/exit records to support the applicant's travel history and ensure consistency with the information declared in the application.
    3. Enhanced Immigration Online Application, Photo & Translations: Complete the AEWV application through INZ’s enhanced Immigration Online system using the unique application link sent by the accredited employer and your RealMe login. Upload an acceptable visa photo and pay the applicable fee. Provide English translations together with copies of any supporting documents that are not in English.
    4. Job Offer, Employment Agreement & Job Description: Signed and current job offer, employment agreement and job description for the approved role. The employment must be full-time, for at least 30 hours a week, and the duties, pay, hours, location and conditions should match the employer's approved Job Check and the information in the visa application.
    5. Employer Accreditation, Approved Job Check & Application Link: The employer must hold valid AEWV accreditation and an approved Job Check for the position before inviting the worker to apply. The employer sends the applicant the unique Immigration Online application link; applicants should verify the employer and role details before submission.
    6. Work Experience Evidence: Evidence of at least 2 years of relevant work experience where relied on to meet the AEWV minimum skill requirement, and any additional experience required by the employer. Use independent evidence such as employment certificates, pay slips, tax records and supported reference letters. A CV or reference letter alone may not be sufficient.
    7. Qualifications & International Qualification Assessment (where applicable): Copies of qualifications used to meet the visa or employer requirements. A qualification below Bachelor's degree level obtained outside New Zealand generally requires an International Qualification Assessment (IQA) from NZQA when relied on for the AEWV minimum skill requirement. A Bachelor's degree or higher can meet the minimum qualification route even if it is in another field, but the employer may require role-specific qualifications.
    8. Occupational Registration & Job-Specific Credentials: Evidence of New Zealand occupational registration, licence, certification or other job-specific credentials where these are legally required or specified for the role. The applicant must meet both INZ requirements and the employer's approved requirements for the job.
    9. English Language Evidence (where applicable): For ANZSCO or recognised NOL skill level 3 to 5 jobs, provide acceptable evidence that you can speak and understand English, unless an exemption applies. Evidence may be based on qualifying citizenship, study or work history, or an approved English test. Skill level 1 or 2 AEWV jobs generally do not require English evidence.
    10. Health & Character Documents: Provide police certificates at application where required, including for applicants aged 17 or older whose total time in New Zealand will be 24 months or longer. Police certificates must meet INZ validity and country requirements. INZ may also require a chest X-ray and/or medical examination after the online application, depending on the health information, intended stay and travel/residence history.
    11. Cover Letter: A concise signed letter may be provided to connect the applicant's work history, qualifications, job offer and genuine reason for working in New Zealand, particularly where the employment history or supporting evidence needs context. The information should remain consistent with the online application and employer documents.
    12. Proof of Legal Residence in Bangladesh (where applicable): Applicants who are not Bangladeshi nationals should provide evidence of lawful residence in Bangladesh.

    Process Roadmap

    Step 1

    Confirm the Accredited Job Offer

Confirm that the employer is AEWV-accredited, the role has an approved Job Check, and the offer is current, full-time and for at least 30 hours a week.

    Step 2

Match the Role & Applicant Evidence

Check the ANZSCO or recognised NOL classification, minimum skill requirement, employer-specified experience or qualifications, registration and English requirement, then prepare supporting evidence.

    Step 3

Apply through the Employer Invitation Link

Open the unique application link (job token) sent by the accredited employer, sign in to INZ’s enhanced Immigration Online system using your RealMe login, complete the AEWV application, upload the required evidence and pay the applicable visa charge.

    Step 4

Complete Health, Character & Passport Steps

Upload a valid police certificate at lodgement if required. If INZ later requests medical evidence, an original passport or further documents, follow the instructions issued for the application.

    Step 5

INZ Assesses the Worker & Approved Role

INZ assesses the applicant's skills, role match, English and registration where relevant, health, character and genuine intentions, and may verify evidence or request more information.

    Step 6

Check the Decision & Work Conditions

If approved, review the eVisa carefully for employer, job, location and stay conditions. A later change of employer, role or location may require a Job Change, variation or new visa.

    Common Rejection Pitfalls

    Job Offer or Job-Check Mismatch

    How UnivEase helps

We help cross-check the job offer, employment agreement, job description, hours, pay, location and occupation details against the employer's approved role and application information.

    Insufficient Skill or Experience Evidence

    How UnivEase helps

We help organise independently verifiable work-experience and qualification evidence, check the 2-year or level 4 minimum skill pathway, and identify where an IQA or additional role-specific evidence may be needed.

English, Registration or Role Requirements Not Met

    How UnivEase helps

We help identify the job's skill level, English requirement, occupational registration and employer-specified credentials so the application does not rely on evidence that falls short of the approved role.

Incomplete Health, Character or Consistency Evidence

    How UnivEase helps

We help identify applicable police, health, passport and translation requirements and review the worker and employer documents for avoidable gaps, contradictions or unsupported claims.
