University of Pécs (UP) is a public, multidisciplinary research university in southern Hungary, with academic roots dating to 1367. Operating across the historic city of Pécs, it brings together 10 faculties, around 25,000 students and a major Clinical Centre, creating a broad academic environment within one of Central Europe's established university cities.

With more than 100 full degree programmes taught in English, UP offers study across medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, health sciences, business, engineering, computing, natural sciences, humanities, law, education, fine arts and music. Admission Requirements

IELTS Academic: 6.0 overall, with no band below 5.5 TOEFL

iBT: 90 overall on the traditional scale

PTE Academic: 59 overall

Duolingo English Test: 115 overall

Graduate Programmes: A Bachelor's degree from a recognised university is required for Master's entry. The degree subject, grades, prior credits, motivation, interview and any professional or portfolio requirements are determined by the selected programme.

Undergraduate Entry for Bangladeshi Applicants: The current general admission list recognises the Higher Secondary Certificate following the Secondary School Certificate, with 12 completed years of schooling and transcripts for both levels. Subject relevance and grades remain programme-specific. Alim and other qualifications should be confirmed in writing before application.

Research / PhD Programmes: A recognised Master's degree is normally required, together with complete academic records, a research plan and any doctoral-school-specific supervisor, topic, interview, examination or publication conditions.

Entrance Exam / Interview: Faculties may assess applicants through online or in-person written, oral, practical or aptitude components. Health Sciences, Engineering and Information Technology, Pharmacy and the Medical School assess English through a university test, interview or both even when a certificate is submitted.

GMAT / GRE: Not a general University of Pécs requirement; submit a standardised test only where the individual programme specifically requests it.

Documents & Legalisation: Applicants normally provide a passport, CV with photograph, academic certificates and transcripts, English evidence, certified translations and programme-specific materials. For Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences applications, certificates issued in Bangladesh require apostilled and notarised copies.

Application Portal & Fees: Self-financed applications are submitted through the University's online portal.

Fees are programme-specific: many programmes charge a €140-€200 application fee, while separate examination or registration fees may apply. Current English-taught undergraduate tuition starts at €2,200 per semester for selected programmes.

Application Deadlines

Autumn / September 2027 Entry: Deadlines are programme-specific. Many current English-taught programme pages list 30 June 2027, while business, arts, doctoral and other courses may close in May or earlier in June. Bangladeshi applicants should apply ASAP.

Selected Spring / February 2027 Entry: Available only for listed programmes. Current published deadlines range from late September to 30 November 2026 depending on the course; applicants should allow sufficient time for evaluation, tuition payment and Hungarian study-visa processing.

Medicine & Dentistry - September 2027: The current English General Medicine and Dentistry programme pages list 30 June 2027. Admission is selective and capacity may be reached before the final published date.

Research / PhD: No single university-wide deadline applies. Current 2027 doctoral dates vary by school, with many falling between early May and 30 June; applicants should begin early and follow the exact doctoral programme page.

University Faculty Scholarships

Pannónia Mobility Scholarships
