University of Debrecen (UD) is a government-supported public research university in Debrecen, Hungary's second-largest city, with academic roots dating to 1538. Undergraduate Entry for Bangladeshi Applicants: Successful completion of Grade 12 through a recognised HSC, Alim or equivalent qualification is required. Subject background, grades and entrance requirements depend on the chosen programme. For Bangladeshi applicants, the maximum permitted study gap for foundation and undergraduate entry is two years.

Graduate Programmes for Bangladeshi Applicants: A relevant recognised Bachelor's degree is required, normally supported by detailed semester-wise transcripts and course descriptions. Programme-specific subject preparation, grades or an interview may apply. The maximum permitted study gap for Bangladeshi graduate applicants is four years.

Research / PhD Programmes: A relevant Master's degree, detailed academic records, two academic recommendation letters and a suitable research proposal are normally required. The selected doctoral school may apply additional topic, supervisor, interview or examination conditions.

Entrance Exam / Interview: Freshman applicants generally complete an online entrance examination or interview. The assessment may review English communication, academic knowledge, motivation and programme suitability; medical and health programmes have defined science-based requirements.

English Evidence: IELTS or TOEFL is not compulsory for every non-medical programme. An English-medium instruction letter, another accepted certificate or the University's online interview may be used where the selected programme permits it. The individual course page and admission decision remain controlling.

Application Documents: Applicants normally submit the online form, passport, academic certificates and transcripts, short CV, medical certificate and payment evidence. Master's, PhD, transfer and selected professional programmes require additional documents.

Application Portal & Fees: Self-financed applications are submitted through the University's online platform. The non-refundable application fee is USD 150 and the entrance procedure fee is generally USD 350. English-taught undergraduate tuition starts from USD 6,000 per year, while fees vary substantially by programme.

Calendar

Application Deadlines

January / February Intake: The current university-wide deadline is 1 November for programmes available in the spring intake. Programme availability must be checked before application.

September Medicine & Dentistry: The final deadline for September intake is generally 15 May. Capacity may close earlier when places are filled.

Stipendium Hungaricum: The next University of Debrecen scholarship application period is expected to open in November. Scholarship applications follow the Tempus Public Foundation system and Bangladesh Sending Partner procedures, not the self-financed portal.

Amount: Full tuition waiver + monthly stipend + accommodation contribution + medical insurance, subject to the current call and selection

University Academic Tuition Reduction

Eligibility: Current self-financed full-time students from the second year who meet the applicable academic performance and scheme conditions

Amount: Up to 20% tuition reduction for an eligible semester; availability and rules differ between medical and non-medical students

University Alumni & Family Discounts

Eligibility: Eligible non-medical University of Debrecen graduates progressing to further study, and qualifying family arrangements under current rules

Amount: Generally 10% tuition discount where the published alumni or family conditions are met

Bangladeshi applicants may pursue Stipendium Hungaricum in fields and study levels allowed under the current bilateral programme. University tuition reductions and discounts are conditional and normally apply after enrolment; no scholarship or fee reduction is guaranteed.
