    Karelia University of Applied Sciences (Karelia UAS) is a multidisciplinary Finnish university of applied sciences in Joensuu, North Karelia, built around practical learning, professional competence and regional impact. Founded in 1992 among Finland’s early universities of applied sciences, it offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and continuous-learning education across business, engineering, health and social care, forestry, media, hospitality and related professional fields.

    Study at Karelia is closely connected with working life. Students take part in company projects, applied research and development, practical training and multidisciplinary assignments, while parts of the curriculum can be shaped around individual interests and career goals.     Admission Requirements

    IELTS Academic: 6.0 overall, with Speaking 5.5 in current January 2027 Bachelor rolling admission
    TOEFL iBT: 60 overall with Speaking 20; for tests from 21 January 2026, 3.5 overall and 3.5 in Speaking
    PTE Academic: 55 overall, with Speaking 50
    Cambridge English: 169 on the Cambridge English Scale in B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency

    Graduate Programmes: A suitable higher-education degree is required. For the English-taught UAS Master’s in Sustainability Management, eligible backgrounds include engineering, natural resources, natural sciences and other applicable degrees, together with at least 24 months of relevant post-degree work experience.

    Undergraduate Entry for Bangladeshi Applicants: Karelia publishes direct Bangladesh criteria for its January 2027 rolling Bachelor route. A completed HSC with GPA 4.0/5.0 or above meets the academic threshold for International Business; Industrial Management requires HSC GPA 4.0/5.0 plus Mathematics, Higher Mathematics or ICT at GPA 4.0/5.0 or above. Other application rounds may use the International UAS Exam, SAT or programme-specific selection.

    Research / PhD Programmes: Karelia UAS does not award doctoral degrees. It offers Bachelor’s and UAS Master’s degrees alongside extensive applied research, development and innovation activity.

    Work Experience: UAS Master’s admission requires at least 24 months of relevant professional or managerial experience gained after completion of the qualifying degree.

    GMAT / GRE: Not a general Karelia UAS requirement. Current English-taught programmes use selection methods such as the International UAS Exam, SAT, pre-assignment, interview or route-specific certificate assessment.

    Application Documents: Requirements vary by route and commonly include passport, final qualification certificate, academic records, official translations where needed, and English or SAT evidence. Original final documents are checked at the beginning of studies where admission has been conditional.

    Application Portal & Fees: Applications are submitted through Studyinfo or Karelia’s stated rolling-admission form. Bangladeshi applicants normally pay Finland’s €100 higher-education application fee unless exempt. Current annual non-EU tuition is €9,000 for International Business and Industrial Management, €10,000 for ICT, and €10,500 for Sustainability Management.

    Application Deadlines

    Bachelor’s Rolling Admission – January 2027: 6 May–31 August 2026 for International Business and Industrial Management; complete applications are processed in arrival order and studies begin 12 January 2027.

    Autumn Joint Application – January 2027: 31 August–10 September 2026 for International Business and Industrial Management, closing at 3:00 pm Finnish time.

    Sustainability Management – Additional Round: The online Master’s additional application runs 1 July–10 August 2026, using a pre-assignment and interview.

    August 2027 / Future Rounds: Karelia has published a 5–23 October 2026 fast-track application for direct second-year engineering entry. Applicants should monitor the official application page and Studyinfo for the 2027 dates.

    Karelia’s scholarship model rewards both early commitment and successful study progress. The first-year early-bird price is time-sensitive, while continuing Bachelor’s awards combine credit accumulation with staged Finnish-language development. Master’s funding is based on first-year academic progress. Eligibility is conditional and should not be treated as guaranteed funding before the University confirms it.
