Academic Requirements
Academic Requirement – Bangladesh HSC Route
- Karelia’s January Rolling Admission specifically accepts the Bangladeshi Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) for International Business with a minimum GPA of 4.0 out of 5.0.
- The qualification must provide eligibility for higher-education studies in Bangladesh, and the final HSC certificate plus academic records must be submitted as required by Karelia.
Note
Meeting the minimum HSC or other eligibility criteria does not guarantee admission. Rolling places are offered to complete eligible applications in order of arrival until the available study places are filled.
Tests
Standardized Test Requirement
SAT is an alternative selection method: minimum 400 in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and 400 in Math. Official SAT results must reach Karelia directly from College Board; Karelia’s SAT code is 7782. A separate English-language certificate is not required for SAT selection.

Notes
- For the certificate-based Rolling Admission route, Karelia accepts IELTS Academic 6.0 band with Speaking 5.5 band, PTE Academic 55 with Speaking 50, and TOEFL iBT 60 with Speaking 20 for tests taken before 21 January 2026, or 3.5 overall and Speaking for tests taken on or after that date.
- Other accepted evidence includes Cambridge English Scale 169, TELC English B2, Oxford ELLT 6.0 with Speaking 5.5, YKI English Grade 4, and specified English-medium qualifications completed in Karelia’s approved countries. Bangladesh-based English-medium study is not itself listed as an exemption.
Waiver: Possible, subject to University assessment.
Funding
Scholarships
The annual tuition fee is EUR 9,000. Eligible new students receive a 20% first-year Early Bird reduction to EUR 7,200 by accepting the study place within 7 days and paying within 20 days. Continuing Bachelor’s students may receive 30%, 20% and 10% tuition-fee scholarships in later study years, subject to Karelia’s study-progress and Finnish-language criteria.

- Bangladesh HSC route: GPA 4.0/5.0 plus accepted English evidence. SAT 400 EBRW + 400 Math is an alternative and does not require a separate English certificate.
- The 210-ECTS, 3.5-year degree is taught in English at Wärtsilä Campus, with a strong focus on international marketing and global business; overseas study and internship opportunities are available.
