TOEFL iBT: 88 overall (L18, R18, S21, W22), including Home Edition; revised-scale tests from 21 January 2026 require 4.5 overall (L4, R4, S4, W4.5)

PTE Academic: 63 overall, with no section below 59

LanguageCert Academic: 70 overall, with at least 65 in each section

Graduate Entry for Bangladeshi Applicants: A four-year Bachelor’s degree normally requires 58% for 2:2 equivalence or 66% for 2:1; University of Dhaka and BUET thresholds are 55% and 63%. A three-year Honours degree plus a two-year Master’s may also be accepted.

Undergraduate Entry for Bangladeshi Applicants: HSC, Intermediate, or Alim applicants normally need an approved foundation route, a three-year Polytechnic Diploma, or two completed years of a recognised Bachelor’s degree, subject to programme banding.

Research / PhD Programmes: A strong relevant honours degree or Master’s is normally expected, depending on the discipline. Applicants must secure suitable supervision and prepare a research proposal before applying.

Work Experience: Programme-dependent; required or preferred for selected business, professional, healthcare, and executive courses.

GMAT / GRE: Not a general university requirement; submit only where the individual programme specifically requests it.

Personal Statement & References: Official transcripts, passport or birth certificate, and English evidence are standard. A personal statement, CV, references, portfolio, or other documents may be required by the chosen programme.

Application Portal & Fees: International applicants apply through the University of Galway online portal. A mandatory, non-refundable €35 application fee applies. Published 2026/27 full-time non-EU postgraduate fees are course-specific and start from €13,840.

Application Deadlines

Postgraduate Taught – September: The portal opens on 1 October for the following September. Most courses assess applications on a rolling basis until full; any fixed closing date shown on the programme page takes priority.

Postgraduate Taught – January: January entry is available for selected programmes only. Availability and closing dates are course-specific, so visa-required applicants should apply early.

Undergraduate / Foundation Entry: Non-EU undergraduate applications open on 1 October and are reviewed on a rolling basis. Courses may close at short notice, while foundation timelines depend on the approved provider.

Research / PhD: Applications are generally accepted throughout the year. Some Arts traditional PhDs use mid-July and mid-November deadlines for September and January starts; programme-specific rules apply.
