Academic Requirements
School-Leaving Requirement (Main)
- Applicants need an upper-secondary qualification giving access to higher education in the awarding country, or an eligible higher-education degree.
- Submit official educational certificates; documents not in Finnish, Swedish or English require an authorised translation.
Note
Academic and English eligibility does not guarantee admission. Applicants must also pass SAMK’s Nursing selection and meet health and functional-capacity requirements.
Tests
Standardized Test Requirement
Nursing is not selected through the International UAS Exam or SAT. SAMK uses its own online Nursing entrance examination: a written first phase followed by an online interview for the highest-scoring eligible candidates. No advance reading or pre-assignment is required.

Notes
- Accepted English evidence includes IELTS Academic 6.0 band, PTE Academic 55 and TOEFL iBT 60 for tests before 21 January 2026, or 3.5 for tests on or after that date. No separate IELTS minimum per band is published.
- Other accepted options include Cambridge English Scale 169, TELC B2, Oxford ELLT 6.0, YKI English Grade 4 and specified English-medium qualifications completed in approved countries.

Funding
Scholarships
Eligible new fee-paying Bachelor’s students can receive a EUR 1,500 first-year Early Bird reduction by accepting and paying by the stated deadline. Later options include a performance scholarship of up to 50% of the paid fee, Finnish-language scholarships of EUR 1,500 or EUR 3,000, and a EUR 200–500 Student Ambassador award, subject to current conditions.

Remarks & Additional Information
- Apply ASAP. The January Nursing intake uses SAMK Separate Application from 31 August to 10 September.
- Selection uses SAMK’s own online written test and, if shortlisted, an online interview. International UAS Exam and SAT results are not accepted.
- Finnish is studied for clinical practice and professional work. Students must also meet health, functional-capacity and vaccination requirements.
