Academic Requirements
Bachelor’s Requirement (Main)
- A Level 8 or equivalent 2:1 honours degree or higher in a relevant science discipline, including Human Nutrition, Nutritional Science, Physiology, Medicine, Nursing, Food Science or Sports Performance Science (minimum 65%)
- The degree must include at least 10 credits in Physiology and 10 credits in Biochemistry
Note
Applicants must identify the modules providing 10 credits in each prerequisite. Biochemistry should cover nutrient-metabolism cycles, while Physiology should include cellular and organ physiology.

Remarks & Additional Information
- UCD publishes 10 June as the annual closing date. Application routes may close when an intake is unavailable, so applicants should confirm the next open January intake before submission.
- The CORU-approved programme includes at least 1,000 hours of compulsory supervised practice placement. Placements are unpaid, may take place across Ireland and may require temporary relocation; graduates are eligible to apply for CORU registration as dietitians.
- Garda vetting, pre-entry health screening and compliance with Irish immunisation guidelines are compulsory before placement. UCD currently charges €330 for healthcare screening on registration, separate from tuition.
- Applicants must provide official yearly transcripts, two official references (one academic and one work-related), a CV, personal statement and relevant experience evidence. Deferrals are not permitted, and non-EU students should plan early for placement costs and the Irish study visa process.
