Academic Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree Requirement (Main)
- Applicants need a completed Bachelor’s degree or equivalent comparable to a Danish Bachelor’s degree in both level and duration, normally corresponding to 180 ECTS.
- The qualifying BSc/BEng must include 60 ECTS in one relevant specialisation and 20 ECTS in Mathematics, giving a programme-specific minimum of 80 ECTS.
Note
Intake is limited. Meeting the minimum does not guarantee admission; ranking considers degree grades, relevant subject grades and additional relevant ECTS.
Tests
Standardized Test Requirement
No GRE, GMAT, SAT or other standardized admission test is published. Selection is based on the qualifying degree, required subject profile and Aarhus University’s programme-specific ranking criteria.

- Cambridge C2 Proficiency, C1 Advanced and B2 First are accepted at AU’s stated levels. PTE Academic and Duolingo are not accepted. IELTS/TOEFL results must be no more than two years old when the portal opens.
Waiver: Not Available.
Funding
Scholarships
Eligible tuition-fee-paying non-EU applicants are automatically considered for limited Danish State Scholarships. At Technical Sciences, awards are normally 100% tuition-fee waivers without a monthly grant. Selection is highly competitive; no separate scholarship application is required.
