    UK Visitor in Transit Visa from Bangladesh

    The UK Visitor in Transit Visa is for Bangladeshi nationals and other residents of Bangladesh whose nationality requires a UK transit visa when they need to pass through UK border control while travelling through the United Kingdom to another country. It is typically relevant where a traveller must collect and re-check baggage, change airports, or otherwise enter the UK landside before continuing the journey, and must leave the UK within 48 hours.

    Applicants must show that the main purpose is genuine transit on a reasonable route, that they can enter their final destination and any other country on the journey, and that they genuinely intend and are able to leave the UK within 48 hours. A transit visa may not be required where a recognised exemption applies. Travellers remaining airside should check whether a Direct Airside Transit Visa (DATV) is required instead, while stays exceeding 48 hours normally require a Standard Visitor visa. 

    Document Checklist

    1. Passport / Travel Document: Valid passport or other travel document covering the intended stay in the UK. UKVI recommends providing a full copy of the passport, including pages showing previous travel and any official observations or amendments.
    2. Previous Passport(s) & Travel History: Copies of previous passport(s), visas and relevant entry/exit records to support the applicant's travel history and ensure consistency with the information declared in the application.
    3. GOV.UK Online Application & Checklist: Complete the Visitor in Transit visa application online through GOV.UK, pay the applicable fee and follow the document checklist and identity instructions generated for the individual application.
    4. Cover Letter: Applicant's signed letter explaining the transit purpose, full journey, reason for passing UK border control, intended UK arrival/departure times, onward destination, trip funding and relevant personal circumstances. The information should remain consistent with the online form and supporting evidence.
    5. Confirmed Onward Journey / Flight Itinerary: Evidence showing the complete journey through the UK and confirmed onward travel, such as flight booking emails, tickets, boarding passes or confirmation from a travel agent. The itinerary should show departure from the UK within 48 hours.
    6. Permission to Enter the Final Destination: Where the applicant is not a national of the destination country, provide evidence of permission to enter, such as a valid visa, residence permit, green card or other accepted immigration document.
    7. Transit / Border-Control Evidence: Documents explaining why UK border control must be crossed, where relevant, such as baggage collection and re-check arrangements, airport-change details, separate-ticket connections or other landside transfer information.
    8. Proof of Occupation: Documents confirming your current professional status and ties to your home country, such as employment certificates, leave approval, pay slips, salary statements, or business-related documents (e.g., Trade License, Incorporation Certificate, MOA, Form XII, IRC/ERC). These should be recent, consistent with your application, and clearly demonstrate your ongoing occupation and intent to return after your visit.
    9. Employer / Study / Business Supporting Letter: Where applicable, provide a letter confirming the applicant's role or enrolment, salary or relevant status, length of employment or study, approved leave and expected continuation after the visit. Self-employed applicants may provide current business evidence.
    10. Business/Company Bank Statements & Solvency Certificate: Original bank statements for the last 6 months for business/company accounts, issued by the bank and showing the bank name and contact details. Statements must be stamped and signed by an authorized bank officer (e-statements not accepted), and accompanied by a bank solvency/financial standing certificate where required.
    11. Company TIN & ITR: Copy of the employer/company TIN certificate and copies of the company Income Tax Return (ITR) for the last 3 tax years, along with the acknowledgement receipts.
    12. Personal Bank Statements & Solvency Certificate: Original bank statements (personal and/or salary account) for the last 6 months, issued by the bank and showing the bank name and contact details. Statements must be stamped and signed by an authorized bank officer (e-statements not accepted), and accompanied by a bank solvency/financial standing certificate where required.
    13. Personal TIN & ITR: Copy of the personal TIN certificate and Income Tax Return (ITR) for the last 3 tax years, along with the acknowledgement receipts.
    14. Proof of Legal Residence in Bangladesh (where applicable): Applicants who are not Bangladeshi nationals should provide evidence of lawful residence in Bangladesh.
    15. Civil Status Documents: Marriage certificate, divorce certificate, death certificate, birth certificate, or family-related documents where applicable, especially when travelling with spouse or children.
    16. Minor Applicant Documents: For applicants under 18, provide birth certificate, parental consent, parent/legal guardian identification, proof of economic means of parents/legal guardian, and custody or guardianship documents where applicable.

    Step 3

    Apply Online through GOV.UK

    Complete the Visitor in Transit application online, pay the £74.50 UKVI fee and follow the application-specific document and identity instructions.

    Step 4

    Upload Supporting Evidence

    Upload the passport, onward booking, destination-entry permission and evidence explaining the landside connection, plus relevant supporting documents.

    Step 5

    Book & Attend the VFS Appointment

    Follow the GOV.UK/VFS instructions, attend the applicable Visa Application Centre and provide fingerprints, a photograph and the required passport/document steps.

    Step 6

    UKVI Assesses the Transit Case

    UKVI checks the transit purpose, route, onward travel and destination admissibility and may request further evidence or verification.

    Step 7

    Check the Decision & eVisa

    If approved, follow the decision instructions, access the UKVI account, check the eVisa and passport link, and carry the relevant transit and destination documents when travelling.
