    UK Student Visa from Bangladesh

    Student visa for eligible further and higher education in the United Kingdom with a licensed student sponsor.

    The UK Student Visa is for applicants aged 16 or over who have an eligible place of study with a licensed UK student sponsor. Bangladeshi students normally need a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), must meet the applicable English-language and financial requirements, and must satisfy UKVI that they are genuine students. Applicants aged 16 or 17 also need the required parental or legal guardian consent.

    For most applications from Bangladesh, the file should also address the UK tuberculosis requirement for stays of 6 months or more and ATAS where the course and nationality require it. An outside-UK application can normally be made up to 6 months before the course starts and within 6 months of receiving the CAS. Applications are completed online through GOV.UK, followed by the required identity and biometric process, usually through a VFS Global UK Visa Application Centre in Bangladesh. 

    Document Checklist

    1. Passport / Travel Document: Valid passport or other travel document covering the intended stay in the UK. UKVI recommends providing a full copy of the passport, including pages showing previous travel and any official observations or amendments.
    2. Previous Passport(s) & Travel History: Copies of previous passport(s), visas and relevant entry/exit records to support the applicant's travel history and ensure consistency with the information declared in the application.
    3. GOV.UK Online Application & Checklist: Complete the Student visa application online through GOV.UK, pay the applicable visa fee and Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS), and follow the document checklist and identity instructions generated for the individual application.
    4. Cover Letter: Applicant's signed letter explaining the study purpose, chosen course and institution, academic or career relevance, funding arrangements and relevant personal circumstances. The information should remain consistent with the online form, CAS and supporting evidence.
    5. Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS): CAS reference issued by a licensed UK student sponsor after an unconditional offer. The application must be made within the permitted CAS validity period and the course, fees, dates and sponsor details should match the application.
    6. Academic & English-Language Evidence: Qualifications, transcripts and English-language evidence where required, including documents used to obtain the course offer if they must be provided under the Student rules or are listed by the sponsor/CAS.
    7. Financial Evidence: Evidence of sufficient funds for outstanding course fees plus living costs, currently £1,529 per month in London or £1,171 per month outside London for up to 9 months. Where the 28-day rule applies, the required funds must normally be held for 28 consecutive days and the evidence must be dated within 31 days of the visa application.
    8. TB Test Certificate: A valid tuberculosis certificate from a Home Office-approved clinic where the UK TB residence and stay criteria apply. This commonly applies to Bangladeshi applicants coming to the UK for 6 months or more.
    9. ATAS Certificate (where applicable): A valid Academic Technology Approval Scheme certificate if the course and applicant's nationality require ATAS. This can apply to certain postgraduate or research studies in sensitive subject areas.
    10. Tuition Fee / Sponsorship Evidence: Evidence of tuition already paid where relevant, or official financial sponsorship / student loan evidence that meets UKVI requirements. Sponsor consent may also be required if a financial sponsor funded course fees and living costs within the previous 12 months.
    11. Personal Bank Statements & Solvency Certificate: Original bank statements (personal and/or salary account) for the last 6 months, issued by the bank and showing the bank name and contact details. Statements must be stamped and signed by an authorized bank officer (e-statements not accepted), and accompanied by a bank solvency/financial standing certificate where required.
    12. Personal TIN & ITR: Copy of the personal TIN certificate and Income Tax Return (ITR) for the last 3 tax years, along with the acknowledgement receipts.
    13. Proof of Legal Residence in Bangladesh (where applicable): Applicants who are not Bangladeshi nationals should provide evidence of lawful residence in Bangladesh.
    14. Applicant Under 18: Written consent from both parents/legal guardians, or the person with sole responsibility, covering the visa application, living and care arrangements and travel to the UK, together with a birth certificate or other government document showing the parental relationship. 

    Process Roadmap

    Step 1

    Confirm Course & Student Eligibility

    Step 2

    Prepare Student Visa Evidence

    Organise the passport, CAS, financial evidence, academic/English documents, TB certificate, ATAS and any under-18 or sponsorship documents required for the case.

    Step 3

    Apply Online & Pay UKVI Charges

    Apply through GOV.UK, normally up to 6 months before the course starts, pay the £558 visa fee and applicable IHS, and complete the identity instructions.

    Step 4

    Book the VFS Biometric Appointment

    After the online application, follow the GOV.UK/VFS instructions to book the required appointment at an available UK Visa Application Centre in Bangladesh.

    Step 5

    Attend VFS & Provide Biometrics

    Attend in person as instructed to provide fingerprints and a photograph and complete the applicable identity, passport and document-handling steps.

    Step 6

    UKVI Assesses the Student Application

    UKVI checks the Student requirements and may verify evidence, request further information or arrange a credibility interview where appropriate.

    Step 7

    Check eVisa & Travel Permission

    If approved, access the UKVI account, check the eVisa and course-related permission, link the current passport and travel no earlier than the visa start date.
