    UK Standard Visitor Visa - Permitted Paid Engagement from Bangladesh

    Standard Visitor visa for eligible experts undertaking a pre-arranged paid engagement in the UK within 30 days of entry.

    The UK Standard Visitor Visa can be used by Bangladeshi nationals and eligible residents who are invited to the United Kingdom as recognised experts for certain pre-arranged paid engagements. Eligible activities include specific engagements for professional artists, entertainers, musicians, sportspeople, qualified lawyers, lecturers, conference speakers, academic examiners or assessors, and overseas air pilot examiners.

    The applicant must be 18 or over, the engagement must be arranged before travel, formally invited by the appropriate UK-based organisation or client, and directly related to the applicant's expertise and main occupation overseas. The paid engagement must be completed within 30 days of entry, even though Standard Visitor permission may allow a stay of up to 6 months. Regular visitors may request 2, 5 or 10-year Standard Visitor validity, subject to the same visitor and engagement rules on each trip. 

    Document Checklist

    1. Passport / Travel Document: Valid passport or other travel document covering the intended stay in the UK. UKVI recommends providing a full copy of the passport, including pages showing previous travel and any official observations or amendments.
    2. Previous Passport(s) & Travel History: Copies of previous passport(s), visas and relevant entry/exit records to support the applicant's travel history and ensure consistency with the information declared in the application.
    3. GOV.UK Online Application & Checklist: Complete the Standard Visitor visa application online through GOV.UK, declare the permitted paid engagement, pay the applicable fee and follow the document checklist and identity instructions generated for the individual application.
    4. Cover Letter: Applicant's signed letter explaining the permitted paid engagement, inviting organisation or client, engagement date and location, payment arrangement, intended travel dates, accommodation, funding and relevant professional background. The information should remain consistent with the online form and supporting evidence.
    5. Formal UK Invitation for the Paid Engagement: Provide a written invitation from the appropriate UK-based organisation or client confirming the applicant, the pre-arranged engagement, why the applicant has been invited, the date, location, duration and payment arrangement. The inviter must be appropriate to the profession and engagement under the current Visitor rules.
    6. Evidence of Professional Expertise: Provide credible evidence showing that the applicant is an established expert in the relevant profession and that the engagement directly relates to the applicant's qualifications, expertise and main occupation overseas. Evidence may include professional registration, employer confirmation, publications, performances, awards, media coverage or other profession-specific records.
    7. Profession-Specific Supporting Evidence: Provide any additional evidence required for the particular engagement. For example, qualified lawyers may need proof of professional standing and right of audience where applicable, while an overseas air pilot examiner should show the required aviation-authority employment and UK approved-training-organisation invitation.
    8. Flight Reservation: Provisional flight itinerary/reservation showing travel dates, route, and flight details, consistent with the planned schedule. Payment is not necessarily required at this stage.
    9. Hotel Reservation / Accommodation Booking: Booking confirmation covering intended stay dates, showing applicant name, accommodation name/address, check-in/out dates, and booking reference; consistent with itinerary.
    10. Proof of Occupation: Documents confirming your current professional status and ties to your home country, such as employment certificates, leave approval, pay slips, salary statements, or business-related documents (e.g., Trade License, Incorporation Certificate, MOA, Form XII, IRC/ERC). These should be recent, consistent with your application, and clearly demonstrate your ongoing occupation and intent to return after your visit.
    11. Employer / Professional Supporting Letter: Where applicable, provide a letter from the overseas employer, institution, professional body or relevant organisation confirming the applicant's role, professional expertise, ongoing occupation and approved absence for the UK engagement.
    12. Business/Company Bank Statements & Solvency Certificate: Original bank statements for the last 6 months for business/company accounts, issued by the bank and showing the bank name and contact details. Statements must be stamped and signed by an authorized bank officer (e-statements not accepted), and accompanied by a bank solvency/financial standing certificate where required.
    13. Company TIN & ITR: Copy of the employer/company TIN certificate and copies of the company Income Tax Return (ITR) for the last 3 tax years, along with the acknowledgement receipts.
    14. Personal Bank Statements & Solvency Certificate: Original bank statements (personal and/or salary account) for the last 6 months, issued by the bank and showing the bank name and contact details. Statements must be stamped and signed by an authorized bank officer (e-statements not accepted), and accompanied by a bank solvency/financial standing certificate where required.
    15. Personal TIN & ITR: Copy of the personal TIN certificate and Income Tax Return (ITR) for the last 3 tax years, along with the acknowledgement receipts.
    16. Proof of Legal Residence in Bangladesh (where applicable): Applicants who are not Bangladeshi nationals should provide evidence of lawful residence in Bangladesh.

    Step 1

    Confirm the Engagement Qualifies

    Check that the proposed paid activity is one of the permitted engagements and directly relates to the applicant's professional expertise and occupation overseas.

    Step 2

    Secure the Formal UK Invitation

    Obtain the correct written invitation confirming the engagement, inviter, date, location, duration and payment arrangement before travelling to the UK.

    Step 3

    Apply Online through GOV.UK

    Complete the Standard Visitor application online and pay £135, or the relevant long-term fee where appropriate. You can normally apply up to 3 months before travel.

    Step 4

    Upload Professional & Financial Evidence

    Upload the invitation, expertise and occupation records, financial evidence, accommodation details and certified translations relevant to the case.

    Step 5

    Book & Attend VFS Biometrics

    Follow the GOV.UK/VFS instructions to book the applicable Bangladesh centre and attend as instructed for fingerprints, photograph and identity steps.

    Step 6

    UKVI Assesses the Engagement

    UKVI reviews the visitor purpose, invitation, professional link and genuine-visitor requirements and may request further evidence or verification.

    Step 7

    Check the Decision & 30-Day Limit

    If approved, check the eVisa and linked passport before travel and ensure the permitted paid engagement is completed within 30 days of entering the UK.
