UK Skilled Worker Visa from Bangladesh

Sponsored work visa for eligible skilled jobs with a Home Office-approved UK employer.

    Last Updated: 30 August 2026

The UK Skilled Worker Visa is the main sponsored work category for Bangladeshi nationals and eligible residents who have a confirmed job offer from a Home Office-approved UK employer. Applicants need a valid Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS), an eligible occupation and salary that meets the applicable Skilled Worker rules. Most new roles must be classed as higher skilled, while certain medium-skilled jobs can qualify only under specific current lists or transitional provisions.

For most new applications, the usual salary requirement is at least £41,700 a year or the occupation's standard going rate, whichever is higher, although approved salary reductions and different rules can apply in defined cases. New Skilled Worker applicants generally need English at CEFR level B2. Permission can be granted for up to 5 years, with possible settlement after 5 years if the relevant requirements are met. Applications are made online through GOV.UK and normally include biometric enrolment through a VFS Global UK Visa Application Centre in Bangladesh.

    Document Checklist

    1. Passport / Travel Document: Valid passport or other travel document covering the intended stay in the UK. UKVI recommends providing a full copy of the passport, including pages showing previous travel and any official observations or amendments.
    2. Previous Passport(s) & Travel History: Copies of previous passport(s), visas and relevant entry/exit records to support the applicant's travel history and ensure consistency with the information declared in the application.
    3. GOV.UK Online Application & Checklist: Complete the Skilled Worker visa application online through GOV.UK, pay the applicable fee and Immigration Health Surcharge, and follow the document checklist and identity instructions generated for the individual application.
    4. Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS): Valid CoS reference issued by a Home Office-approved employer. The application should match the sponsored job title, occupation code, salary, work dates and sponsor details recorded on the CoS.
    5. UK Job Offer / Employment Evidence: Job offer, employment contract or employer supporting evidence where available, showing the sponsored role, salary, working hours, location and relevant employment terms consistently with the CoS.
    6. English Language Evidence: Evidence that the applicant meets the applicable Skilled Worker English requirement, normally CEFR level B2 for a new application, through an approved SELT, qualifying degree, eligible nationality or another permitted method.
    7. Financial Maintenance Evidence: Evidence of at least £1,270 held for 28 consecutive days, with day 28 within 31 days before application, unless the applicant is exempt or the sponsor certifies maintenance on the CoS.
    8. Tuberculosis (TB) Certificate: Home Office-approved TB test certificate where the UK TB residence rules apply. This is normally relevant to Bangladeshi applicants coming to the UK for more than 6 months.
    9. Police Clearance Certificate: Required for certain jobs in education, healthcare, therapy and social services, with additional certificates potentially needed for relevant periods of residence in other countries.
    10. ATAS / PhD or Qualification Evidence (where applicable): Provide a valid ATAS certificate for relevant sensitive research roles, or UK PhD / Ecctis evidence where a PhD qualification is relied on for Skilled Worker eligibility or salary points.
    11. Proof of Legal Residence in Bangladesh (where applicable): Applicants who are not Bangladeshi nationals should provide evidence of lawful residence in Bangladesh.
    12. Civil Status Documents: Marriage certificate, divorce certificate, death certificate, birth certificate, or family-related documents.
