    UK Parent of a Child Student Visa from Bangladesh

    Visa for one parent to live with and care for a Child Student aged 4 to 11 at an independent school in the United Kingdom.

    The UK Parent of a Child Student Visa allows one parent to accompany and care for a child who has, or is applying for, Child Student permission to study at an independent fee-paying school in the United Kingdom. The child must be aged 4 to 11 on the date of the parent’s application.

    The accompanying parent must have sufficient funds, maintain their main home outside the UK and intend to leave when their permission ends. The child’s other parent must remain abroad and cannot join under this route. Permission normally ends when the Child Student’s permission expires or the child turns 12, whichever comes first. The parent cannot work, study, start a business, access public funds or switch to another visa category in the UK. 

    Document Checklist

    1. Passport / Travel Document: Valid passport or other travel document covering the intended stay in the UK. UKVI recommends providing a full copy of the passport, including pages showing previous travel and any official observations or amendments.
    2. Previous Passport(s) & Travel History: Copies of previous passport(s), visas and relevant entry/exit records to support the applicant's travel history and ensure consistency with the information declared in the application.
    3. GOV.UK Online Application & Checklist: Complete the Parent of a Child Student visa application online through GOV.UK, pay the applicable visa fee and Immigration Health Surcharge, and follow the document checklist and identity instructions generated for the individual application.
    4. Cover Letter: Applicant's signed letter explaining the purpose of accompanying the Child Student, intended travel and living arrangements, funding, the position of the other parent, and the applicant's permanent home and return plans outside the UK. The information should remain consistent with the online form and supporting evidence.
    5. Child Student & School Evidence: Evidence that the child has, or is applying for, Child Student permission and will attend an independent fee-paying school in the UK. Include the child's passport, CAS or school evidence, and current Child Student visa/eVisa details where applicable.
    6. Parent-Child Relationship Evidence: Birth certificate, adoption or legal guardianship documents, as applicable, showing the relationship between the applicant and the Child Student. Provide relevant civil-status evidence where needed to explain parental responsibility or family circumstances.
    7. UK Living & Care Arrangements: Evidence of the intended UK address and arrangements showing that the parent will live with and care for the Child Student during the permitted stay. Accommodation details should be credible and consistent with the school location, application form and available funds.
    8. Other Parent / Sole Accompanying Parent Evidence: Documents supporting that only one parent will accompany the child and that the child's other parent will remain outside the UK. Relevant evidence may include the other parent's passport/residence details, consent or family documents, depending on the circumstances.
    9. Financial Evidence: Evidence that the required maintenance funds are available: £1,560 for each month of the intended stay, up to 9 months, for the parent and first Child Student, plus £625 per month for each additional Child Student sibling. Required funds are normally held for 28 consecutive days in line with Appendix Finance.
    10. Proof of Permanent Home Outside the UK: Evidence that the applicant maintains their main home outside the UK and has sufficient resources to maintain it while temporarily accompanying the child. Property, tenancy, household, employment, business or other relevant evidence may be provided according to the case.
    11. Personal Bank Statements & Financial Evidence: Provide bank or financial evidence that clearly shows the required funds, account holder, balance and relevant holding period. Evidence must meet the current Appendix Finance requirements and be consistent with the source of funds declared in the application.
    12. Proof of Legal Residence in Bangladesh (where applicable): Applicants who are not Bangladeshi nationals should provide evidence of lawful residence in Bangladesh.
    13. TB Test Certificate: Where the UK tuberculosis rules apply, provide a valid TB certificate from a Home Office-approved clinic. This is normally relevant to applicants resident in Bangladesh who are applying to stay in the UK for more than 6 months. 

    Process Roadmap

    Step 1

    Confirm Parent & Child Eligibility

    Check that the child is aged 4 to 11, has or is applying for Child Student permission for an independent school, and that only one parent will accompany the child in the UK.

    Step 2

    Prepare Finances, Home & TB Evidence

    Prepare the required maintenance funds, evidence of the permanent home outside the UK, family and school documents, and a Home Office-approved TB certificate where required.

    Step 3

    Apply Online through GOV.UK

    Apply online through GOV.UK, pay the £726 application fee and applicable IHS, and follow the document-upload instructions. The earliest outside-UK application date is 6 months before travel.

    Step 4

    Book the VFS Biometric Appointment

    After the online application, follow the GOV.UK/VFS instructions to book the required appointment at an available UK Visa Application Centre in Bangladesh.

    Step 5

    Attend VFS & Provide Biometrics

    Attend in person as instructed to provide fingerprints and a photograph and complete the applicable identity, passport and document-handling steps.

    Step 6

    UKVI Assesses the Application

    UKVI checks the parent-child eligibility, financial requirement, family arrangements and supporting evidence, and may request further information or verification.

    Step 7

    Check the Decision & eVisa

    If approved, follow the decision instructions, access the UKVI account, check the eVisa and permission details, and ensure the current passport is correctly linked before travel.
