    UK Health and Care Worker Visa from Bangladesh

    Reduced-fee sponsored work visa for eligible health and care professionals joining approved UK employers.

    The UK Health and Care Worker Visa is a specialist category within the Skilled Worker route for qualified doctors, nurses, health professionals and eligible adult social care professionals. Bangladeshi applicants need a confirmed eligible job with a Home Office-approved health or care employer, a valid Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS), the correct occupation code and salary, and the required level of English.

    Salary rules depend on the occupation. Many eligible healthcare roles must meet at least £25,000 a year or the applicable going rate or national pay scale, while certain occupation codes follow different thresholds and permitted salary reductions. New overseas applications for care worker and senior care worker jobs have been closed since 22 July 2025, with only limited transitional in-country provisions. The visa can be granted for up to 5 years, carries reduced application fees and exempts eligible applicants and dependants from the Immigration Health Surcharge. Applications are made online through GOV.UK, with identity and biometric steps usually completed through VFS Global in Bangladesh. 

    Document Checklist

    1. Passport / Travel Document: Valid passport or other travel document covering the intended stay in the UK. UKVI recommends providing a full copy of the passport, including pages showing previous travel and any official observations or amendments.
    2. Previous Passport(s) & Travel History: Copies of previous passport(s), visas and relevant entry/exit records to support the applicant's travel history and ensure consistency with the information declared in the application.
    3. GOV.UK Online Application & Checklist: Complete the Health and Care Worker visa application online through GOV.UK, select the Health and Care Worker option, pay the applicable reduced fee and follow the document checklist and identity instructions generated for the individual application.
    4. Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS): Valid CoS reference from a Home Office-approved employer showing the sponsored job, occupation code, salary, work dates and sponsor details. The information should match the application and employment evidence.
    5. UK Job Offer / Employment Evidence: Job offer, employment contract or employer supporting evidence where available, showing the eligible health or care role, salary, working hours, location and employment terms consistently with the CoS.
    6. Professional Registration / Qualification Evidence: Provide evidence of professional registration, licence, qualification or employer-required regulatory status where relevant to the occupation. Some regulated professions have separate registration requirements before work can begin.
    7. English Language Evidence: Evidence that the applicant meets the applicable Health and Care Worker English requirement, normally CEFR level B2 for a new application, through an approved SELT, qualifying degree, eligible nationality or another permitted method. Doctors, dentists, nurses and midwives may rely on an accepted professional-regulator assessment where applicable.
    8. Financial Maintenance Evidence: Evidence of at least £1,270 held for 28 consecutive days, with day 28 within 31 days before application, unless the applicant is exempt or the sponsor certifies maintenance on the CoS.
    9. Tuberculosis (TB) Certificate: Home Office-approved TB test certificate where the UK TB residence rules apply. This is normally relevant to Bangladeshi applicants coming to the UK for more than 6 months.
    10. Police Clearance Certificate: Applicants applying from outside the UK for most eligible health and care occupations must provide the applicable police clearance certificate(s). UKVI exempts a limited number of occupation codes, and additional certificates may be required for relevant residence in other countries.
    11. UK PhD / Ecctis Evidence (where applicable): Provide the UK PhD certificate or Ecctis reference where a qualifying doctorate is relied on for the applicable salary rules.
    12. Proof of Legal Residence in Bangladesh (where applicable): Applicants who are not Bangladeshi nationals should provide evidence of lawful residence in Bangladesh.
    13. Civil Status Documents: Marriage certificate, divorce certificate, death certificate, birth certificate, or family-related documents. 

    Process Roadmap

    Step 1

    Confirm Health & Care Route Eligibility

    Check that the profession, occupation code, employer and proposed role qualify for the Health and Care Worker category and that any current overseas-recruitment restriction does not apply.

    Step 2

    Review the CoS, Salary & English Requirement

    Confirm the CoS details, job duties, occupation code, salary or national pay scale and the applicable B2 English evidence before applying.

    Step 3

    Apply Online through GOV.UK

    Submit the online Skilled Worker application, select the Health and Care Worker option, and pay the applicable £324 or £628 fee. Applications can normally be made up to 3 months before the CoS start date; no IHS is payable for this category.

    Step 4

    Upload Supporting Evidence

    Provide the passport, CoS information, English and maintenance evidence, and other supporting documents required for the case.

    Step 5

    Attend VFS & Provide Biometrics

    Follow the application instructions to book and attend the relevant UK Visa Application Centre in Bangladesh for fingerprints, photograph and identity steps where required.

    Step 6

    UKVI Assesses the Application

    UKVI reviews the application and may request further evidence or verification.

    Step 7

    Check the Decision & eVisa

    If approved, follow the decision instructions, access the UKVI account, check the eVisa and permission details, and ensure the current passport is correctly linked before travel.
