Sweden Airport Transit Visa from Bangladesh

Airport transit visa for Bangladeshi travellers connecting through Sweden without entering Schengen.

    Last Updated: 30 August 2026

The Sweden Airport Transit Visa is a Schengen airport transit visa category for Bangladeshi applicants who need to pass through the international transit area of a Swedish airport while travelling onward to a destination outside the Schengen area.

This visa is used only when the traveller will remain inside the airport’s international transit area and will not enter Sweden or any other Schengen country. If the journey requires leaving the transit area, changing airports, collecting baggage, staying overnight outside airport transit, or entering a Schengen country, a different Schengen visa category may be required.

    Document Checklist

    1. Passport (Original): Original passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended transit/travel date, with at least 2 blank pages for visa purposes.
    2. Previous Passport(s) & Visa Copies: Copies of previous passport(s) and previously issued visas/stamps to support travel history, where available.
    3. Photograph (ICAO Format): Provide 2-4 recent colour passport photographs with a plain white background, 60%-70% face coverage, no eyeglasses, no head/ear coverings (unless worn for religious reasons), and no borders. Photos must be ICAO-compliant and printed on matte/semi-matte paper.
    4. Schengen Visa Application Form (Offline): Printed Schengen visa application form completed for each applicant; signed and dated by the applicant. The purpose of journey should be selected as airport transit where applicable.
    5. Cover Letter: Applicant’s signed letter addressed to the Visa Officer/Visa Office explaining the transit purpose, full travel route, airport connection in Sweden, final destination, and key supporting documents.
    6. Flight Reservation / Transit Itinerary: Confirmed or provisional flight itinerary showing the complete travel route, transit airport in Sweden, connection time, onward flight details, and final destination. The itinerary should clearly show that the applicant will remain in airport transit where applicable.
    7. Final Destination Visa / Entry Permission: Copy of the valid visa, residence permit, entry clearance, or other permission required for the final destination country, where applicable.
    8. Proof of Onward Travel: Supporting evidence showing onward movement from Sweden to the final non-Schengen destination, such as onward ticket/reservation, booking reference, airline confirmation, or travel agency itinerary.
    9. Proof of Occupation: Documents confirming your current professional status and ties to your home country, such as employment certificates, leave approval, pay slips, salary statements, or business-related documents (e.g., Trade License, Incorporation Certificate, MOA, Form XII, IRC/ERC). These should be recent, consistent with your application, and clearly demonstrate your ongoing occupation and intent to return after your visit.
    10. Personal Bank Statements & Solvency Certificate: Original bank statements for the last 6 months, issued by the bank and showing the bank name and contact details. Statements should be stamped and signed by an authorized bank officer, with solvency/financial standing certificate where required.
    11. Personal TIN & ITR: Copy of the personal TIN certificate and Income Tax Return (ITR) for the last 3 tax years, along with the acknowledgement receipts, where available or applicable.
    12. Minor Applicant Documents: For minors, provide birth certificate, parental consent, parent/legal guardian identification, and any custody or guardianship documents where applicable.

    Process Roadmap

    Step 1

    Confirm Airport Transit Requirement

Confirm whether the applicant will only pass through the international transit area of a Swedish airport. Bangladeshi nationals may require an airport transit visa unless an official exemption applies.

    Step 2

    Complete the Application Form

Prepare the Schengen visa application form with accurate details, keeping it consistent with the passport, flight route, final destination visa, and supporting documents.

    Step 3

    Arrange Transit & Destination Evidence

Collect the onward flight itinerary, final destination visa or entry permission, airline confirmation, and any route explanation needed to show the transit purpose clearly.

    Step 4

    Prepare Applicant Documents

Arrange the passport, photos, cover letter, occupation proof, financial documents, minor documents where applicable, and exemption evidence if relevant. Translate documents where required.

    Step 5

Book Appointment at Visa Application Centre

Book a submission appointment at the Sweden Visa Application Centre in Dhaka and keep the confirmation with the file. Schengen applications may usually be lodged up to 6 months before travel.

    Step 6

    Submit Application & Provide Biometrics

Attend the appointment in person to submit the application documents, provide biometric information, and complete the required visa, VFS, and selected service payments.

    Step 7

    Track Application & Verify Visa

Track the application through VFS using the reference number. Once a decision is made, collect the passport from VFS or receive it by courier if selected, and check the visa details before travel.
