South Africa Critical Skills Visa from Bangladesh
Long Term Work Visa for eligible professionals whose occupation appears on South Africa’s current Critical Skills List.

Document Checklist
- Passport (Original): Original passport valid for at least 30 days after the intended date of departure from South Africa, with at least two unused/blank visa pages. Submit the current passport together with the required copies.
- Previous Passport(s) & Travel History: Full clear copies of previous passports, including relevant visa and immigration pages, where available. Travel history should be disclosed consistently with the application and supporting records.
- Photograph (South Africa Visa Format): Provide 2 recent colour passport photographs, 35mm x 45mm, taken within the last 30 days against a plain white background and meeting the current South Africa VFS photo specifications.
- DHA-1738 Visa Application Form: Fully completed Form DHA-1738 in black ink and block letters, signed by the applicant with details consistent with the passport and supporting documents.
- Cover Letter: Applicant’s signed letter explaining the critical-skills occupation, South African employer, intended position, employment period and supporting circumstances. It should include the applicant’s home address and contact details and remain consistent with the employment and skills evidence.
- Critical Skills List / Gazette Evidence: Identify the specific occupation under which the application is made and provide the applicable current South African Critical Skills Gazette or list evidence required for the application file.
- South African Job Offer / Employment Contract: A valid South African offer of employment and signed employment contract confirming the position, duties, remuneration, employment period and relevant conditions. An offer of employment is mandatory under the current points-based framework.
- Professional Body / Council Confirmation: Written confirmation from the relevant professional body, council, board, or government department recognised for the occupation, confirming the applicant’s skills, qualifications and appropriate post-qualification experience.
- Professional Registration Evidence (where applicable): Where registration is required by law, provide proof of application for or registration with the relevant professional body, council or board recognised by SAQA. Current New Delhi instructions should be checked for original and notarisation requirements.
- SAQA Qualification Evaluation: Proof of evaluation of the relevant foreign qualification by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), together with translations or supporting qualification records where required.
- CV, Qualifications & Experience Records: Current CV together with qualification certificates and employment, experience, service or relieving letters needed to support the listed occupation and relevant post-qualification experience.
- Employer Details & Undertakings: Provide the South African employer’s full particulars and the applicable written undertakings regarding passport validity, compliance with visa conditions, employment changes and other responsibilities required under the work-visa framework.
- Personal Bank Statements: Recently bank-certified personal bank statements for the last 6 months showing sufficient financial means for the applicant’s initial stay and related expenses.
- Police Clearance Certificate: Applicants aged 18 or over should provide police clearance certificates for the countries required under the current Relative Visa requirements, including countries where the applicant has resided for 12 months or longer since turning 18.
- Proof of Legal Residence in Bangladesh (where applicable): Applicants who are not Bangladeshi nationals should provide evidence of lawful residence in Bangladesh.
- Medical Report: Submit the prescribed medical report in original. The medical report should reflect the applicant’s general state of health and meet the current validity requirements.

Step 2
Confirm Employment & Visa Eligibility
Verify the South African job offer and make sure the proposed role, duties and employment conditions align with the listed critical-skills occupation.
Step 3
Secure Skills & Registration Evidence
Obtain the required professional-body confirmation, SAQA evaluation and registration evidence relevant to the occupation.
Step 4
Complete DHA-1738 & Prepare the File
Complete DHA-1738 carefully and add the required passport, financial, police-clearance, employer, qualification and residence evidence, then organise the file.
Step 5
Prepare for VFS New Delhi Submission
Bangladeshi applicants must submit their South Africa visa applications through VFS Global New Delhi, under the jurisdiction of the South African High Commission in New Delhi.
Step 6
Lodge the Application & Pay Charges
A prior appointment is currently not required. Submit the complete file at VFS New Delhi and pay the applicable visa and VFS charges through the prescribed process.
Step 7
Track the Decision & Check Work Conditions
Follow available VFS updates and, after passport return, verify the visa validity, occupation, employer and endorsed conditions before commencing work.
