    Latvia Airport Transit Visa from Bangladesh

    The Latvia Airport Transit Visa is a Schengen category A visa for Bangladeshi travellers passing through the international transit area of a Latvian airport on their way to a country outside the Schengen area.

    It permits airport-side transit only and does not allow entry into Latvia or another Schengen country. A different visa category may be needed if the journey requires baggage collection, leaving the transit zone, changing airports, an overnight stay outside the secure area, or any other entry into Schengen. 

    Document Checklist

    1. Passport (Original): Original passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended return/departure date, with at least 2 blank pages.
    2. Previous Passport(s) & Visa Copies: Copies of previous passport(s), recent passport bio page, and previously issued visas/stamps to support travel history, where available.
    3. Photograph (ICAO Format): Provide 2-4 recent colour passport photographs with a plain white background, 60%-70% face coverage, no eyeglasses, no head/ear coverings unless worn for religious reasons, and no borders.
    4. Photos must be ICAO-compliant. Schengen Visa Application Form (Offline): Printed Schengen visa application form completed for each applicant; signed and dated. For minors, the form must be signed by parent/legal guardian. The purpose of journey should be selected as airport transit where applicable.
    5. Cover Letter: Applicant’s signed letter addressed to the Visa Officer/Visa Office explaining the airport transit purpose, full travel route, Latvian airport connection, final destination, and key supporting documents.
    6. Flight Reservation / Transit Itinerary: Confirmed or provisional flight itinerary showing the complete travel route, Latvian transit airport, connection time, onward flight details, and final destination. The itinerary should show that the applicant will remain within airport transit where applicable.
    7. Final Destination Visa / Entry Permission: Copy of the valid visa, residence permit, entry clearance, or other permission required for the final destination country, where applicable.
    8. Proof of Onward Travel: Supporting evidence showing onward movement from Latvia to the final non-Schengen destination, such as onward ticket/reservation, booking reference, airline confirmation, or travel agency itinerary.
    9. Proof of Occupation: Documents confirming your current professional status and ties to your home country, such as employment certificates, leave approval, pay slips, salary statements, or business-related documents (e.g., Trade License, Incorporation Certificate, MOA, Form XII, IRC/ERC). These should be recent, consistent with your application, and clearly demonstrate your ongoing occupation and intent to return after your visit.
    10. Personal Bank Statements & Solvency Certificate: Original bank statements (personal and/or salary account) for the last 6 months, issued by the bank and showing the bank name and contact details. Statements must be stamped and signed by an authorized bank officer (e-statements not accepted), and accompanied by a bank solvency/financial standing certificate where required.
    11. Personal TIN & ITR: Copy of the personal TIN certificate and Income Tax Return (ITR) for the last 3 tax years, along with the acknowledgement receipts.
    12. Minor Applicant Documents: For minors, provide birth certificate, parental consent, parent/legal guardian identification, proof of economic means of parents/legal guardian, and custody or guardianship documents where applicable. 

    Process Roadmap

    Step 1

    Confirm Airport Transit Need

    Confirm that the journey involves only a connection through the international transit area of a Latvian airport. Bangladeshi nationals generally need an airport transit visa for Latvia unless they qualify for an official exemption.

    Complete the Application Form

    Complete the Schengen visa application form carefully and ensure that the passport details, flight sequence, transit airport, connection time, final-destination permission, and supporting records are fully consistent.

    Step 3

    Organize Transit Evidence

    Prepare the complete itinerary, onward booking, airline confirmation, final-destination visa or residence permission, and any route explanation required to establish that Latvia is used only as an airport transit point.

    Step 4

    Prepare Applicant Documents

    Arrange the passport, photographs, cover letter, occupation and financial records, minor documents where relevant, and proof of any claimed exemption. Documents should be translated where required.

    Step 5

    Book Appointment at Visa Application Centre

    Book a submission appointment at the Sweden Visa Application Centre in Dhaka, which accepts Latvia Schengen applications under the representation arrangement. Retain the appointment confirmation and organize the file in A4 format.

    Step 6

    Submit Application & Provide Biometrics

    Attend the appointment in-person to lodge the application file, provide biometrics, and pay the applicable visa, VFS, and selected optional service charges.

    Step 7

    Track Application & Check Passport

    Use the VFS reference number to follow the application. Once the passport is returned, collect it from the centre or receive it by courier if selected, and confirm the visa details before travelling.
