    The Ireland Join Family - De Facto Partner of CSEP/Hosting Agreement Holder Visa is a Long Stay D visa for Bangladeshi nationals and eligible residents of Bangladesh who are in a genuine, durable relationship with a sponsor holding a valid Critical Skills Employment Permit or Hosting Agreement and intend to live together in Ireland for more than 90 days. Applicants must normally show at least two years of cohabitation as a family unit before applying; visits alone are not sufficient to establish a qualifying de facto relationship.

    The sponsor must already have been granted the relevant Irish visa or be living in Ireland on the qualifying CSEP or Hosting Agreement permission. The applicant must apply from outside Ireland and remain outside while the case is processed. If approved and admitted to Ireland, an eligible de facto partner is generally registered on Stamp 1G in line with the sponsor’s permission and may work without a separate Employment Permit. 

    Document Checklist

    1. Passport (Original): Original passport valid for at least 12 months from the proposed date of entry to Ireland, with sufficient blank space for the visa. Submit the current passport together with the required copies.
    2. Previous Passport(s) & Travel History: Full clear copies of previous passports, including relevant visa and immigration pages, where available. Travel history should be disclosed consistently with the AVATS application.
    3. Photograph (Ireland Visa Format): Provide 2 recent colour passport photographs that meet Ireland visa photograph requirements. Sign your name and write the AVATS Visa Application Transaction Number on the back of each photograph.
    4. AVATS Application Summary Sheets: Printed AVATS summary sheets completed for the applicant, signed and dated. Keep the Visa Application Transaction Number and submit the summary sheets with the passport and supporting documents.
    5. Cover Letter: Applicant’s signed letter explaining the relationship, intention to live with the sponsor in Ireland, proposed living arrangements, relevant family details, and any previous immigration or visa issues that require disclosure.
    6. De Facto Relationship & Two-Year Cohabitation Evidence: Documents showing a genuine, durable relationship and at least 2 years of living together as a family unit, such as joint tenancy records, landlord letters, property records, utility bills, rent or mortgage payments, and other shared-address evidence.
    7. Relationship History & Financial Interdependence: A clear relationship timeline supported by verifiable records, together with evidence of shared financial commitments where available, such as joint accounts, transfers, joint purchases, assets, loans, or other records demonstrating an established partnership.
    8. Sponsor’s CSEP / Hosting Agreement & Employment Evidence: Clear copy of the sponsor’s valid Critical Skills Employment Permit or Hosting Agreement, together with the full employment contract and relevant qualification or work-experience evidence required under the scheme.
    9. Sponsor’s Passport & Sponsorship Letter: Full clear colour copy of the sponsor’s current passport, and previous passports where available, plus a signed sponsorship letter confirming the relationship, sponsorship, address history, family details, and other information required by Irish Immigration.
    10. Accommodation Plan in Ireland: Documentary evidence showing where the applicant and sponsor intend to live in Ireland. If permanent accommodation will be arranged after arrival, provide the initial accommodation plan and supporting evidence.
    11. Applicant & Sponsor Bank Statements: Up-to-date bank statements covering the previous 6 months for both applicant and sponsor, showing account ownership, address, account details, income and expenditure. Printed internet statements must be officially certified by the bank; uncertified internet statements are not accepted.
    12. Applicant & Sponsor Police Clearance: Police Clearance Certificates, not more than 6 months old, from the current country of residence and any country where the applicant or sponsor has resided during the previous 5 years. Certificates must be issued by the relevant police authority.
    13. Proof of Legal Residence in Bangladesh (where applicable): Applicants who are not Bangladeshi nationals should provide evidence of lawful residence in Bangladesh.
    14. Medical Insurance: Evidence of qualifying medical insurance for the applicant and sponsor. Private cover should meet Irish requirements for the duration of stay; qualifying travel insurance may be used during the first year if it provides at least €25,000 cover for accident, €25,000 for illness or disease, and hospitalisation. 

    Process Roadmap

    Step 1

    Confirm De Facto Eligibility

    Confirm that the applicant is outside Ireland, aged 18 or over, and has lived with the CSEP or Hosting Agreement sponsor as a genuine de facto couple for at least 2 years.

    Step 2

    Confirm the Sponsor’s Qualifying Status

    The sponsor must hold a valid Critical Skills Employment Permit or Hosting Agreement and must already have the relevant Irish visa or qualifying permission before the de facto partner applies.

    Step 3

    Complete AVATS & Print the Summary

    Complete AVATS accurately, note the Visa Application Transaction Number, then print, sign, and date the application summary sheets. Supporting documents should normally be submitted within 30 days of creating the AVATS application.

    Step 4

    Build the Relationship & Sponsor File

    Prepare cohabitation, relationship-history and financial-interdependence evidence together with the sponsor’s CSEP/Hosting Agreement, employment, finances, accommodation, police clearance and insurance records.

    Step 5

    Follow the Submission Instructions

    Follow the AVATS directions. Bangladesh residents may submit by post to the Embassy of Ireland in New Delhi or by appointment at the Ireland Visa Application Centre in Kolkata.

    Step 6

    Pay Fees & Submit the File

    Submit the signed AVATS summary, passport, supporting documents, required copies, and applicable fees. Embassy submissions require the prescribed bank draft; VFS submissions follow the current VFS payment process.

    Step 7

    Follow the Dublin Queue & Prepare for Registration

    This category follows the dedicated Dublin De Facto CSEP/HA processing queue. If approved, check the visa details and complete immigration registration after arrival for the Stamp 1G permission.
