    Ireland Internship Visa from Bangladesh

    The Ireland Internship Visa is a Short Stay C visa for Bangladeshi nationals and eligible residents of Bangladesh who are full-time third-level students outside Ireland and must complete an unpaid internship in Ireland as an essential part of their studies. The internship may last up to 90 days. Applicants must study at an approved or accredited institution and in a discipline covered by Ireland’s relevant highly skilled occupations list.

    Applications from Bangladesh fall under the New Delhi Visa Office. After completing AVATS, applicants print and sign the summary form and follow its submission instructions. The file may be sent to the Embassy of Ireland in New Delhi by post or lodged by appointment at the Ireland Visa Application Centre in Kolkata. 

    Document Checklist

    1. Passport (Original): Original passport valid for at least 6 months after the intended date of departure from Ireland, with sufficient blank space for the visa. Submit the current passport together with the required copies.
    2. Previous Passport(s) & Travel History: Full clear copies of previous passports, including relevant visa and immigration pages, where available. Travel history should be disclosed consistently with the AVATS application.
    3. Photograph (Ireland Visa Format): Provide 2 recent colour passport photographs that meet Ireland visa photograph requirements. Sign your name and write the AVATS Visa Application Transaction Number on the back of each photograph.
    4. AVATS Application Summary Sheets: Printed AVATS summary sheets completed for the applicant, signed and dated. Keep the Visa Application Transaction Number and submit the summary sheets with the passport and supporting documents.
    5. Cover Letter: Applicant’s signed letter explaining the unpaid internship purpose, intended travel dates, host organisation, accommodation and funding arrangements, and commitment to follow the visa conditions and leave Ireland before the permitted stay expires.
    6. University Letter / Proof of Student Status: Original letter from the course director or academic institution confirming the course, full-time student status, period of study and remaining study period, the nature and duration of the internship, how it forms an essential part of the course, funding arrangements, any link with the Irish host, and the date the applicant is expected to return to studies.
    7. Irish Host Company / Organisation Letter: Original letter on official headed paper confirming the nature and duration of the unpaid internship, the applicant’s placement, funding and support arrangements, and the host’s link with the university where applicable.
    8. Flight Reservation: Provisional flight itinerary/reservation showing the intended travel dates, consistent with the application. Applicants should avoid purchasing non-refundable travel tickets before a visa decision.
    9. Hotel Reservation / Accommodation Booking: Booking confirmation covering the intended stay dates, showing the applicant name, accommodation name/address, check-in/out dates, and booking reference; consistent with the travel plan.
    10. Personal Bank Statements & Solvency Certificate: Original bank statements (personal and/or salary account) for the last 6 months, issued by the bank and showing the bank name and contact details. Statements must be stamped and signed by an authorized bank officer (e-statements not accepted), and accompanied by a bank solvency/financial standing certificate where required.
    11. Personal TIN & ITR: Copy of the personal TIN certificate and Income Tax Return (ITR) for the last 3 tax years, along with the acknowledgement receipts.
    12. Proof of Legal Residence in Bangladesh (where applicable): Applicants who are not Bangladeshi nationals should provide evidence of lawful residence in Bangladesh and normally show permission to remain for at least 3 months after the intended departure date from Ireland.
    13. Civil Status Documents: Marriage certificate, divorce certificate, death certificate, birth certificate, or family-related documents where applicable, especially when travelling with spouse or children.
    14. Travel / Medical Insurance: Evidence of insurance is not normally required with the initial internship visa application unless requested by the Visa Officer. If the visa is approved, appropriate travel/medical insurance should be in place for the journey and may be requested at the Irish port of entry. 

    Process Roadmap

    Step 1

    Confirm Internship Eligibility

    Check that the placement is unpaid, lasts no more than 90 days, and is an essential part of full-time third-level studies outside Ireland. The academic institution and field of study must meet the published eligibility conditions.

    Step 2

    Complete AVATS for Internship

    Complete AVATS accurately, select “Short Stay (C)” and “Internship”, and enter “Unpaid” for the Employment Permit/Atypical Working Scheme Approval Number. Print, sign, and date the application summary sheets.

    Step 3

    Align University & Host Evidence

    Obtain original letters from the academic institution and Irish host that clearly connect the internship to the course, confirm the placement dates, and explain the responsibilities and support arrangements.

    Step 4

    Show Funding, Stay & Return Plan

    Prepare clear evidence of who will meet travel, accommodation, and living costs, together with the accommodation plan and evidence showing the applicant will return to continue the course after the internship.

    Step 5

    Follow the Bangladesh Submission Route

    Use the submission instructions generated through AVATS. Bangladesh residents may be directed to send the file to the Embassy of Ireland in New Delhi by post or lodge it by appointment at the Ireland Visa Application Centre in Kolkata.

    Step 6

    Pay the Fee & Lodge the Application

    Submit the signed AVATS summary, passport, original supporting documents, required copies, and applicable visa fee. For direct Embassy submission, arrange the visa fee in advance by bank draft in Indian rupees, made payable to the Embassy of Ireland. For VFS submission, complete the applicable visa and VFS payments through the prescribed VFS process.

    Step 7

    Follow the Decision & Check the Visa

    Use the available reference details to follow the application. If approved, check the visa before travel and carry key supporting documents.
