    Iceland Visiting Family and Friends Visa from Bangladesh

    Schengen short-stay visa for visiting family, relatives, friends, and close personal contacts in Iceland.

    The Iceland Visiting Family and Friends Visa is a Schengen short-stay visa for Bangladeshi applicants travelling to Iceland for a temporary visit to family members, relatives, friends, or close personal contacts. It generally allows a stay of up to 90 days within any 180-day period.

    You should apply under Iceland only when Iceland is the main destination, the country where you will spend the longest part of your Schengen trip, or the place where the main purpose of the visit will take place. In Bangladesh, Iceland short-stay visa applications are submitted through the Sweden Visa Application Centre in Dhaka under the current representation arrangement. This category is for temporary visits, not for long-term family reunification or residence in Iceland. 

    Document Checklist

    1. Passport (Original): Original passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended return/departure date, with at least 2 blank pages.
    2. Previous Passport(s) & Visa Copies: Copies of previous passport(s), recent passport bio page, and previously issued visas/stamps to support travel history, where available.
    3. Photograph (ICAO Format): Provide 2-4 recent colour passport photographs with a plain white background, 60%-70% face coverage, no eyeglasses, no head/ear coverings unless worn for religious reasons, and no borders. Photos must be ICAO-compliant.
    4. Schengen Visa Application Form (Offline): Printed Schengen visa application form completed for each applicant; signed and dated. For minors, the form must be signed by parent/legal guardian.
    5. Cover Letter: Applicant’s signed letter addressed to the Visa Officer/Visa Office explaining the family or friends visit purpose, intended travel dates, host details, accommodation plan, funding source, relationship/connection with the inviter, and key supporting documents.
    6. Flight Reservation (Temporary): Provisional flight reservation showing travel dates, route, and flight details, consistent with the planned schedule. Payment is not necessarily required at this stage.
    7. Invitation Form / Invitation Letter from Host in Iceland: Invitation form or signed invitation letter from the host/inviter in Iceland confirming the relationship or connection with the applicant, purpose of visit, intended travel dates, duration, host address, contact details, and whether accommodation or financial support will be provided.
    8. Host/Inviter Identification & Status Documents: Clear copies of the host/inviter’s passport bio page, Icelandic ID card, residence permit, or other valid status document, as applicable.
    9. Host/Inviter Address or Residence Evidence: Tenancy/lease document, utility bill, or other address proof showing the host’s residence in Iceland where the applicant will stay.
    10. Proof of Relationship or Personal Connection: Documents showing the relationship or connection between the applicant and the host, such as birth certificate, marriage certificate, family records, photos, communication history, or other relevant evidence, as applicable.
    11. Host Financial / Sponsorship Documents: If the host will support the visit, provide recent evidence of income and financial capacity, such as bank statements, salary/income proof, employment documents, tax records, or other support documents.
    12. No Objection Letter (NOC) / Letter of Introduction: Employer/company letter confirming employment or business affiliation, designation, approved leave dates, travel purpose, and expected return after the trip. Signed by an authorized signatory where applicable.
    13. Proof of Occupation: Documents confirming your current professional status and ties to your home country, such as employment certificates, leave approval, pay slips, salary statements, or business-related documents (e.g., Trade License, Incorporation Certificate, MOA, Form XII, IRC/ERC). These should be recent, consistent with your application, and clearly demonstrate your ongoing occupation and intent to return after your visit.
    14. Company TIN & ITR: Copy of the employer/company TIN certificate and copies of the company Income Tax Return (ITR) for the last 3 tax years, along with the acknowledgement receipts.
    15. Personal Bank Statements & Solvency Certificate: Original bank statements (personal and/or salary account) for the last 6 months, issued by the bank and showing the bank name and contact details. Statements must be stamped and signed by an authorized bank officer (e-statements not accepted), and accompanied by a bank solvency/financial standing certificate where required.
    16. Business/Company Bank Statements & Solvency Certificate: Original bank statements for the last 6 months for business/company accounts, issued by the bank and showing the bank name and contact details. Statements must be stamped and signed by an authorized bank officer (e-statements not accepted), and accompanied by a bank solvency/financial standing certificate where required.
    17. Personal TIN & ITR: Copy of the personal TIN certificate and Income Tax Return (ITR) for the last 3 tax years, along with the acknowledgement receipts.
    18. Civil Status Documents: Marriage certificate, divorce certificate, death certificate, birth certificate, or family-related documents where applicable, especially when travelling with spouse or children.
    19. Minor Applicant Documents: For minors, provide birth certificate, parental consent, parent/legal guardian identification, proof of economic means of parents/legal guardian, and custody or guardianship documents where applicable.
    20. Travel Health Insurance: Travel medical insurance covering the full duration of stay, valid across the Schengen area, with minimum medical coverage of EUR 30,000. The policy must show insured person, coverage area, dates, and coverage limit.

    Step 1

    Confirm the Iceland Visit Purpose

    Identify whether the trip is to visit family members, relatives, friends, or close personal contacts in Iceland. For temporary stays up to 90 days, the Schengen short-stay visa (Type C) is generally the relevant category.

    Step 2

    Complete the Schengen Application Form

    Prepare the visa application form carefully and keep the information consistent with the passport, host invitation, travel dates, accommodation plan, financial documents, and supporting records.

    Step 3

    Collect Invitation & Host Evidence

    Arrange the invitation form or invitation letter, host identity or residence proof, Iceland address evidence, relationship or personal connection proof, and host sponsorship documents where applicable.

    Step 4

    Build the Applicant File

    Gather the passport, photographs, cover letter, occupation proof, financial records, itinerary, civil status documents, minor documents where applicable, and Schengen travel insurance. Translate documents where required.

    Step 5

    Book Appointment at Visa Application Centre

    Book a submission appointment at the Sweden Visa Application Centre in Dhaka, which receives Iceland short-stay visa applications. Keep the appointment confirmation and arrange all documents in A4 format.

    Step 6

    Submit Application and Provide Biometrics

    Attend the appointment in person to submit the application and passport, provide biometric information, and complete the applicable visa, VFS, and selected service payments.

    Step 7

    Track Application and Verify Visa Details

    Track the application through VFS using the reference number. After a decision, collect the passport or receive it by courier if selected, and check the visa details carefully before travel.
